Saturday Night Live (11/14) as it happens

Saturday Night Live airs after 10 PM. The FCC doesn't care about curse words or barnyard language after 10. No controversy.

The last time I saw SNL, Joe Piscopo was a regular.

Eddie Murphy for me. SNL seems really outdated to me. Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" is twice as funny as Weekend Update...why bother staying up late on Saturday anymore?

Here's a review of last night's show from EW.com:

They seem to agree with me about going from the best show of the season (Taylor Swift) to the worst.

They also mention something that did seem different to me last night and that was the woman who portrays Hoda Kotb in the Today sketches. It was Jenny Slate last night. Last season, it was Michaela Watkins who was apparently fired during the offseason along with Casey Wilson. Casey was or was not fired for her weight gain, depending on what you believe. Michaela did a much better Hoda than Jenny, that's for sure.

The Hoda/Kathie Lee sketch was one of the best from that series (not saying much!). I wanted to shoot myself during the Dairy Queen robbery sketch. The educational video about hosting a party drew a chuckle or two. I fell asleep soon after.

That was the BEST??? Holy Moly.... the audience was so quiet that I could hear honking horns on 5th Avenue. That sketch couldn't have been more unfunny if it was written by a 10 year old.

I haven't watched much SNL since they started relying so heavily on the homosexual angle for jokes. It was different when it was like the Schmidt's Gay Beer ad, not on every episode, four sketches an episode.
Every time I flipped by SNL back then, it was about men kissing men or women being in love with women. And a bunch of the updates from the recent shows seem to be about the same thing. I guess that wacky line of comedy is just inexhaustible in their minds?
Sorry you had to go through that, WMC. Your dedication and service are deeply appreciated, if not wholly understood. :)

Someone PLEASE put this show out of its misery!

I've heard that SNL is NBC's highest rated show on Saturday. That may not be saying much, but I think it gives you the reason for the show's survival.

Finally watching 14 November SNL on 21 November...

Thanks again WMC for doing this.

Huge Thumb Down! Nothing on the show was a homerun. A few things made it to second, but most struck out looking. Is this what we've come to: poop jokes, fart jokes, gay jokes and homoerotic jokes? Fred Armisen doing two gay characters? And as I'm typing this, was Keenan Thompson in any sketch? [Edit: I just checked it and I didn't see Keenan at the end of the show]

Weekend Update was okay. I liked Kim Kardashian and Lou Dobbs. Also, I realize I'm in the minority, but I like Jon Bovi.

Made me wish we could have skipped over January and went straight to February.

LMAO! That's a good one

In a word, yes.

We've noticed this too. All they seem to write into SNL anymore are gay/homoerotic jokes, farts and jokes about other bodily functions. It's getting very old and shows an immense lack of creativity. Sure, something like that may be funny once in a while. But for cryin' out loud, do something different!

Yes, it's harder and takes more creativity to come up with original stuff that's funny. But that's why writers are supposedly paid decent bucks.
