"Saturday Night Live" Goes HDTV

NBC has announced (this is a link to a netwoirk press release) that their long-running comedy/variety series "Saturday Night Live" will be broadcast in HDTV beginning with this coming week's (October 1st) season premiere.

The press release also runs down guest hosts and musical guests for October.

Most interesting among the guest hosts and musical guests to me are the musical guest for this week's show (controversial rapper Kanye West), the guest host for October 22nd (actress Catherine Zeta-Jones) as well as the guest host and musical guest for October 29th (the guest host is cycling champion Lance Armstrong; the musical guest is Armstrong's fiancee, singer Sheryl Crow).

Great question! With both Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien available in HDTV, why is Leno's show still in full screen for us "regulars" while Conan is letterboxed?
