Saturday Night Live Sucks!

What the Hell has happened to this once great TV Show? After watching an hours worth of the show tonight, I haven't laughed once. Do the writers even know what a joke is anymore? I'd rather be watching re-runs of the ones with Charles Rocket & Denny Dillon then this crap I've seen tonight.

Yup, tonight is pretty bad. Big letdown after last week's show with Neil Patrick Harris.

Only good thing is Rosario Dawson's rack.

Wow, I take it back. At 1245am, they just showed the SNL band playing for about 15 seconds and they sounded great. Maybe they can let the band play for an hour and a half.

I'll admit the house band rocked. Good guitar solo along with the horns, and as always, a solid drummer. Although tonight's musical guests Fleeting Foxes, aren't my cup of tea, they we're very good at the style they do. Head writer Seth Meyers needs help though. The shows are disappointing. I'll agree Rosario, she looked very nice tonight.

I've never heard of Rosario Dawson OR Fleeting Foxes until yall told me about them. I must be out of the SNL demos. I used to like it.
Last few times I checked out SNL, I found I can only stand so many sex jokes or men kissing men skits being the high point of the comedy.

I thought last night's show was OK. The opening skit was funny (Cheney has no regrets), Da Learnin Train was funny. The monologue was not funny.

Steve Martin hosts on January 31st. That SHOULD be a good show.

Sometimes, when one of the 'five-timers' club members hosts (Martin, John Goodman, Alec Baldwin--although those guys have all hosted alot more than 5 times), other members of that club show up in cameos in a sketch and sometimes even former castmembers acting as down on their luck waiters or with menial jobs (Martin Short, John Lovitz).

As like last week, I have to give a slight thumbs down. I rolled my eyes more than I laughed.

Cheney/Sawyer skit was too long and could have wrapped faster. La Policia Mexicana didn't make me laugh. Digital Short was weird and not in a funny way. Please, Please, PLEASE do not bring back Gilly!!!

I liked the GitMo sell-a-thon and Larry the Goose. Judy Grimes has one more time and she's out. Wiig does an incredible Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Wiig's Diane Sawyer was good.

Speaking of Kristen Wiig, is she the next big thing coming out of SNL? She does so many people and characters. I think she's up there but I'm not ready to call her one of the best (female) actors to be on SNL. Plus is there going to be backlash if she is on virtually every skit?

Well, Kristen is probably as versatile as Amy Poehler was and Amy was in practically every skit (for better or for worse). Kristen is probably the current Cheri Oteri/Molly Shannon.

Casey Wilson made a strong start, I'd like to see her in more good stuff. My jury is still out on the two other female newbies.

The lack of diversity on SNL is striking. Especially considering their impersonator for Barack Obama isn't of African heritage at all. Their sole African-American cast member, Kenan Thompson, often gets dress-up duty as a black woman (as none exist as cast members). But goodness Fred Armisen is of Venezuelan & Japanese heritage, as there would be no Asian or Latino/Hispanic representation, either.

I'm pretty sure most folks reading in this thread don't care about such things, but most shows with ensemble casts have a lot more diversity than this. SNL will be relying on guest stars for a while, provided they actually try humor outside of the writers' universes.

What saved SNL was Tiny Fay and her impression of Sarah Palin. Those skits were funny.
But now that the election is over with, and Fay is back to work on her own show, SNL will revert back to it's stale self.
Sorry but this show has been long in the tooth for many years. It's time for NBC to just pull the plug on SNL.
