Saturday Night Radio Shows

I was wondering what Saturday Night Radio shows do you guys like? Just a little survey!

Back in the 80's, Dick Bartley's "Solid Gold Saturday Night" was the best. And in the mid 70's, we all watched "Saturday Night Live" on the tube. And in the early 70's, we watched Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, All in the Family, and MASH on CBS on Saturday nights. Those were the days and the old LaSalle ran great. And in the late 70's, we dressed up in our disco clothes, went to eat at the original Peking on 6th Avenue & 2nd or 3rd Street and then headed to either the Red Arrow or Bonnie & Clydes. God bless Bill Karnes...a one man party all by himself!

I kinda meant current Saturday night shows. Those were some good ones. But I meant the current crop
Jumpin Saturday Night
Saturday Night All Request Party
Big Hair Saturday Night
Shows like that.

Come on, admit it. You're the host of Big Hair Saturday Night.

Yes, I really enjoyed that one too. The jingle for his phone number is still burned into my brain...
"1....800.......6345789!".....all these years later. I was living in Michigan at the time and he was
on so many stations out there that I could drive from Kalamazoo to Port Huron without missing a beat.

wasn't it mike harvey who does solid gold saturday nights? Dick Bartley does American Gold, much similar except Harvey's live. Bartley comes weekly on CDs. At least that's how we get it down here. Having said that, neither of those shows held a candle to the revolution's all request saturday night starring John Raynar and friends.

;D ;D ;D

all kidding aside, it's nice to see a thread on here that isn't constantly trashing forever. -JR

Actually Dick Bartley and Mike Harvey are one and the same person. Bartley worked for Forever at one time and is under a long term noncompete. Whenever he's on a market with a Forever station within a 150 mile radius, he has to use his real name which is Mike Harvey. So it all is dependent on what ever market you're hearing the program in. If Bartley winds up in a market with a 2510 Associates station(s), he uses the name Dick Harvey. If there's a 2510 AND a Forever station(s), he has to use the name Mike Bartley. You will notice that most of the music is the same on all four programs.

That's funny cause isn't WOWY owned by 2510 and if I'm not mistaken a hop skip and a jump away on the other side of town is a bunch of Forever stations and he uses the name Mike Harvey at WOWY so can you explain that cause I'm going to call a big pile of doggy doo on this one

Raynor I have to agree with you...nothing like that 50,000 Watt pen*s right?

ditto to what AJ said. Sorry Fryman, but I gotta call bravo sierra. Altho I emailed Mike and asked him, so we'll see what he says. Ya gotta admit, they kinda sound the same. -JR

Of course they sound the same. I'm telling you it's the same guy. Plus the hours are played in different order depending what name he's using and what market he's in. You'll note the Dick Bartley first hour music always matches Mike Harvey's 3rd hour, etc.

I still think you are full of poo...I just heard Nick Bazoo say Mike Hervey on your radio Saturday Nights...hmmm ???

Have you visited their websites? Dick Bartley and Mike Harvey look NOTHING alike. Oh, course, maybe Forever is the CIA of the radio world and they just 'doctored' the website pictures just so we 'think' they are different people...hmmm, they are so smart. Besides didn't Mike Harvey's show use to be on 3WZ and he wold come in and do the Bellefonte cruise?

You'll note (if you look closely) that the man who purports to be Mike Harvey is wearing a wig. A good one, an expensive one, but it's still a rug if look at his picture at the right angle.

See below for Bartley's bio from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_bartley

1988 – 1991: Created, produced and hosted “The Rock & Roll Oldies Show” and “New Gold On CD” for the Westwood One Radio Network. After Bartley left for ABC, “New Gold on CD” would survive on Westwood One, as he was replaced by Mike Harvey, the host of Super Gold.
1991 – present: Created, produces and hosts “American Gold” and “Rock & Roll’s Greatest Hits” for the ABC Radio Network; Dick also hosted another show called Yesterday Live, a perspective on 70s music, until 2000.

Try googling Sergeant John Bartley who lives on Broad Avenue in Altoona and used to be an U.S. Army Reserve recruiter back in the 80's. You might be surprised! He even has a listed phone number.

I couldn't get a hold of Mike Harvey so I emailed Bartley, see his response below:

If anyone questions the authenticity of this email, PM me your email, and I'll fwd u the email he sent me. i just didn't want to post his(or my) email on here due to the spambots. -JR

Sorry, that's an urban myth.

My name is Dick Bartley - a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame.
I work for the ABC Radio Networks in New York City.

Mike Harvey is a longtime competitor and radio colleague.
Mike has worked in Florida for many years.

We're two completely different people who happen to have programmed
similar music on our syndicated radio shows over the years.

Hope this clears up the confusion!

You'll also be surprised that Mike Harvey and Paul Harvey are both broadcasters, they don't look alike, they don't sound alike, but THEY both have the same last name.

Oh great now he is going to claim that Paul Harvey is Mike Harvey's dad....wait for it...it's coming!
