Saturday Open House At KRE/Berkeley

If you haven't been to the refurbished KRE Studios under the big radio tower on Ashby Avenue in Berkeley lately, Saturday (April 5) may be just the chance you've been looking for. Here's the scoop from CHRS president Steve Kushman:

APRIL 5TH, 9 AM... IT'S CHRS RADIO ACTIVITY DAY AT KRE...

- RADIO REPAIR CLINIC - & - FILM SCREENING -
"Empire of the Air: The Men Who Made Radio"

COME TO 601 ASHBY AVE. FOR BIG RADIO FUN!

RADIO REPAIR CLINIC: In the Russ Dillberg Repair Shop - The clinic we held in January was very successful. Have you been stumped by a problem radio repair? Bring in your problem sets and our experts (John Staples, Art Lebermann & Scott Robinson), will help you get them running. 6 sets maximum this time. 1 per person. First come, first served. To reserve a spot for the Saturday clinic, email VP Scott Robinson at [email protected]. Let Scott know the make and model # of your set with a brief description of the problem. THE CLINIC IS FULL, SO COME FOR THE MOVIE!

DOCUMENTARY VIEWING: In the Hilda Levy Screening Room - If you have not seen it in years, or if you have never seen it, take this opportunity to view Ken Burns' PBS documentary film, "Empire of the Air: The Men who made Radio".

It's the story of three early radio pioneers, Lee De Forest, EH Armstrong and David Sarnoff. It was produced in 1991. We will be playing a new DVD copy on the big screen. It's quite an entertaining film. Don't miss it. It is about 2 hours long, so be prepared. We will have an intermission. Also, if we want to view it, we have a short film about Philco radio manufacturing in the late 1920s. It's kind of campy & fun.

We will have the big coffee pot brewing great radio station java. You are encouraged to bring some movie snacks to share.

We hope you will enjoy these Radio Activity Days at KRE. If you have ideas or suggestions for other activities on these days, please let us know.

*NOTE: A.R.C. LISTS A SWAP MEET TOMORROW. THIS IS INCORRECT. THERE IS NO SWAP TOMORROW. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
