Saturday vs Sunday For Oldies Specialty Show

I'm curious - there are a lot of folks here with a lot of experience and I'd like to pick your brain... Say there was a (primarily) talk AM station that decided to do a block (maybe 4-5 hours) of weekend oldies, kind of like WABC does with Cousin Brucie.

Would something like that be more successful on a Saturday or a Sunday? I'm guessing afternoon is probably when makes the most sense regardless of the day, but I'm curious about that, too.

Any thoughts?

Most talk stations would have zero interest in music programming. In the endless dial, you lose listeners when you don't deliver your usual format all the time.

If you wanted the most available audience, it would probably be Saturday from roughly 11am to 4pm. But programmers know this so they'll put their strongest syndicated best-of show at that time -- and a talk station will almost always choose the Best of Hannity over the Best of Elvis.

Sure, I'm aware that most stations wouldn't. But what I'm asking is if one did, what would be the best time? Had a feeling Saturday early afternoon would likely be best. Thanks!

I've heard Saturday night is the ultimate dead zone for Talk radio. Which is why WABC does their Oldies programming at that time. Sunday night is also a good time for that.
