Savage axed at WHK

Beck owned WTAM and they never picked him up.

Huh?????? Last I looked, Clear Channel owned WTAM... and Beck's ratings were mediocre at best.... although I do agree that it would have been a good move for WHK to pick him up.

what a loss! I am not a fan of Savage, but this smacks of censorship.....on second thought, this doesn't smack of censorship, it IS censorship!
No it is not "Censorship". If you think that this has anything to do with "censorship" then you don't know what the word means. You can read what "censorship" is here:

http://www.answers.com/censorship?gwp=13

Censorship occurs when a government determines in advance what may or may not be published.

Salem Communications is not a government. Salem never had any obligation to put Savage on the air in the first place. In putting him on, Salem did not acquire any moral obligation to keep him on.

I assume you would not want to see the Fairness Doctrine brought back, eh? Also, do you find it offensive that Randi Rhodes said she hoped Barbara Bush drowns?

Fairness Doctrine...that will kill talk radio as a format...and as a business, which is what it really is. Guaranteed. For that reason alone I'm against it.

As I recall, Beck did very well particularly among younger than usual listeners for much of when he was on WTAM. He filled in for Trivisonno once... how many places does he do that?
