Savage is back on WCRN, Overnight America is gone

Heard a promo on WCRN-AM 830 today that due to popular demand, Savage is back. Their new schedule according to the promo is Savage from 9 to Midnight, Jim Bohannon at 12, and Red Eye Radio at 1 a.m.

They were running Overnight America with Jon Grayson. IIRC, didn't Savage sign a syndication deal with Cumulus? Maybe they had to bring back Red Eye Radio in order to get Savage back?

Possible. In my opinion, Overnight America is far superior to Red Eye Radio (the worst of the overnight programs).

Is the third hour of Savage canned like it was in the TRN days? If so, they're better off carrying two hours of Jimbo.

WCRN site still lists Savage under his former 7-10 pm hours (orig was fed 6-9p nationwide). Their facebook hasn't been showing too much action but I may do a post there.

A comment on an article about Savage & WABC, via michaelsavage.wnd.com, says the third hr is indeed a rehash of former bits and that many stations only carry him for the 2 hours.

So in reality, his show is (Two hours)?
If it is two hours? Why does Cumulus Media Networks state it is three hours? That's false advertising.
Not good
So if the average listenner would like to join with the conversation in the 11pm hour, they can not because it is (repeated?)?

Does this mean that CBS may try to again muscle "Overnight America" on WBZ-1030, given that the weeknight overnight slot has had fill-in hosts since Steve LeVeille retired this past Summer??

Thanks.

I had been under the illusion that WTKK-96.9 had also dropped "Overnight America".

But then again, CBS could yank it from WTKK and move it to WBZ-1030, but hopefully they won't.

The WCRN website is always in a state of flux. They never added Overnight America to their show listings when they started carrying the show. In fact, they still list the Midnight Radio Network on overnights which as we know is now Red Eye Radio.

On the other hand, kudos to WCRN for bringing back local news updates during the Howie Carr show. And I also heard them do a promo for a commercial free news hour @ noon. Apparently they're carrying America's Radio News with local news cut-ins & interviews with Sherman Whitman from 12 - 1 p.m. With no commercial breaks.

And Hank Stolz announced that they are resurrecting the Morning News Facebook page. Maybe with Jim Polito departing their main competitor, they have decided to try to get some of the audience from the Clear Channel talker.
