Savage off WPRO?

The John Batchelor show began at 9pm...no mention of any switch on the WPRO website, Savage is still listed.

First this horrid Red Eye Radio, now they drop Savage?

Are you saying that John Batchelor is being run on 630 in addition to 790, thereby making it yet another simulcast?? (Red Eye already having gone that route).

If so....this is possibly yet another Cumulu$ budget cut.

If not....let's hope this was just a technical glitch with the automation equipment.

John Batchelor again. His show runs 9-1 nightly from WABC-AM. Listened for a while last night and again tonigtht at 9... It was the audio equivalent of watching paint dry. He's on WTKK as well and WCRN is too noisy here, so I'm stuck with Bohannon. Hopefully Craig Schwalb gets enough calls & emails to return some entertaining programming to the late-night lineup.

Agreed. WPRO keeps (kept) their broadcast pretty high energy. Then Batchelor comes on with a weeping cello intro and a condescending tone and the brakes on the train get engaged. Terrible. I heard a promo for Batchelor this morning on WPRO, so I guess he's permanent.

And I did send Schwald an email (to all three email addresses listed on the WPRO site...) respectfully stating my opinion. I mentioned my growing interest in Iheartradio in light of the recent lineup change, along with my switch to WHJJ to hear Coast to Coast.

1. wpro is now off all of my radios after listening to them for over 50yrs. because of these program changes.
2. they think very little of their listeners to take these actions without any official announcements or notification of any type.
3. i will now catch savage out of ny @ 6pm on 710am or possibly ma @ the same time -wrko ?
4. as for doyle , well i became very tired of his self indulgent movie, vague-us -me-me-me ,astronaut
name dropping, buy my book or this guys/chicks patter. he's a one-thick poney-whore.
5. they are slowly killing terrestrial radio , and i hope i am not here to witness its end.

All Cumulus stations are now on iHeartRadio as well, they'd probably appreciate your interest in the app.

I can't imagine WPRO would prefer me listening to 650 KSTE via iheartradio on my phone between 6-9pm, over listening to Matt Allen on WPRO at the same time which is what I've been doing the past week.

I hear where you're coming from on this. But....let's face it....WPRO, as the only really viable talk outlet in the market.....doesn't have to try very hard.

So.....Why would they need to go out of their way to actually inform the listeners of a late-night satellite programming change that likely won't affect too many people? ;)

Craig has to make his move, can't just run the station as Paul left it, otherwise it would make him look not needed.

Carrying Batchelor for four hours every night just seems like an erratic move for WPRO from my POV as a listener. He (as well as his guests) sounds very stale and aloof and is totally unlistenable to me.

If Craigs 'big move' was to get me to listen to Geraldo Rivera and download apps then he has succeeded.

Is it possible WHJJ will pick up Savage and/or Doyle?

Someone on this board not to long ago mentioned something about me being crazy to think that WPRO would bust up it's stable lineup. I replied that new blood always wants to make their mark. These wern't the exact words. But in essence this is what was said. Looks like I was right. I've said it enough times before and I'll say it again. Lots of things in radio don't seem to make any sense. However once you get a new guy in the house, he's always going to want to do things his way. Even when his way seems to be totally illogical.
