Michael Savage, by his own admission, has to keep an eye on his health. Last year, he was out a lot during a spell. He admitted to needing oral surgery, which may have messed up his speaking.
Then he got sick after going into one of his patented angry tirades. The very next day he mentioned how after this broadcast, he had a sick feeling which stayed with him for a whole day... might have been a bit of light-headedness. He let the listeners know that he's going to have to "mellow out" a bit (my words).
Most of this week, he's been on-the-air with laryngitis. It got so bad on one of the days that I noticed that the last segment of his first hour was probably a re-run, as he goes to commercial with a hoarse tone, and some coughing, and then comes back sounding all cured.
One of his problems is he doesn't let the listeners help him. In most cases he takes a call, tells the caller, "Go ahead and talk, I can't do it as well today anyway."... but then he jumps in quickly when he doesn't agree with them or has a question. One of the times he did let a caller go on for awhile, the caller wasn't interesting and just blabbered on and on.
