I read another piece that stated that Ms. Weiner was no longer CFO of Rockstar, but I can't find it now. If I find it I will post the link.
Mr. Savage is a bona fide nutjob and an arguably dangerous individual who has repeatedly misused his influence. When he came to do his program at Beasley's studios in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, a memo was issued telling employees not to make eye contact with him or make him uncomfortable in any way. I commend Great Britain for taking the steps they did to keep him out of their country. The less uneducated hate that is spread, the better.
Jay, you seem to subscribe to the myths that ratings equal quality, and that programming has merit just by virtue of being on the air. Those notions go even further down the toilet with PPM.
Mr. savage can be a grouch off the air, I've heard. Yes indeed, I also commend Great Britain from getting him off the air. And the University of Oregon Students for blocking Savage years ago in Eugene Oregon.
However what really counts is the ethics of the program director. Most PD's are unethical when they allow hosts to consistently go after other groups of people. For example Michael Savage goes after gays and Hispanics; Mike Malloy going after Mormons and Christians; Jeff Rense going after gays and "his own definition" of "Zionists," and many others. You can see that I would defend any group from negative opinion on my station.
"Quality" talk shows are such as Alan Colmes, who remains sarcastic, while still being objective, and at the same time humorous, when expressing his displeasure with people he disagrees with. Or, someone such as Rollye James, Ronn Owens, Dave Ross, Bob Brinker, or Mike Rosen.
Mike Rosen / KOA Denver is probably my favorite host but I don't always agree. Fiscal libertarian, social liberal, and well read - backs up everything he says with references - he has an M.B.A. We need less Savages and Malloys (no pun intended), and more Rosens, Brinkers, Owens, James, Colmes, and Ross's.
