Savage's fill in

Boy is this guy weak. He keeps getting invited back for the perennially vacationing Savage, whose syndicator also taps such talk wizards as Larry Marino, who does early morning infomercials for a station in the Inland Empire, for Jerry Doyle, and mediocre talents for Ingraham

I agree, Savage wants to go part-time but there's nobody to take his place. Tough situation when you're too good to be replaced. He would be better off with reruns.

If Savage quits, TRN & Co. are toast. How else would they force stations to take their C-list shows?

Guess the high school drop out never thought about this happening...

What 'choo talkin' about, KJCB? Who's the dropout?

What happened is that only the "D"-listers will guest host TRN shows nowadays because it won't pay known people the going rate for filling in. Masters got cheap. Or is he broke?

:-\

Best ofs are fine and often entertaining, but I wish they'd stop announcing that it's a "Best of" so often. If the show is evergreen, it needs no such introduction.

I'd prefer fill-in hosts, and there are some decent ones out there; Beck and Hannity frequently get halfway decent talents when they're out (no, Curtis Sliwa doesn't count). With 300 Savage affils, you'd think TRN could find someone other than Rick Roberts willing to work. The Masters clan seems to be becoming quite Salemized, using only weekend hosts or bums off the street as fill-in.

Are you talking about douglas urbanski? where is he from? savage needs someone good....B1 BOb dornan ..bores people with some of his stories....Jerry Doyle, Ollie North??? I agree Savage can't take the job full time much longer .....Art bell did a good job when he picked george norri...but savage is too much of an ego nut to train someone to takeover for even part of te time part of the time

Douglas Urbanski, yeah, the biggest Savage suckup on the air. Apparently some Hollywood film type.

I'd almost forgotten about Bob Dornan! :-X I do think I heard him on there not long ago as well. Apparently Rick Roberts' 37-minute routine has run its course with the Braintrust of Grants Pass.

You do bring up a good point in that many stations would likely replace Savage with (if available) Doyle by simply moving him up into the early evening spot. Not a fan myself but he seems to be doing alright. Then again, AISB, without Savage as an anchor, the likes of Jerry Doyle could be in for some trouble. We saw that just last week with KLO/Salt Lake City being forcefed Humphries for Savage, as was KCMO/KC.

"I agree Savage can't take the job full time much longer"

It's funny how working three hours a day from your home studio is considered a full-time job. I think he's one of the best in the business, but it's nauseating when he goes on and on about how hard he works, especially when a lot of his listeners are working 60-80 hrs a wee ;D

I think what he means is that he's an angry old man who is about two sentences away from an apoplexy at any moment. Think of the manic/talent syndrome, where one often spills over into the other.

For Savage, just being angry is work, and he needs a day off in his boat to calm down.

I love how he doesn't know any talk shows hosts... in the last five days, Glenn Beck and Neal Boortz, two people you would know well if you actually had a clue about the business you're in. It's entertaining to listen to, but the guy is insane.

remember he asked for people to send in tapes..that he was going to change the show to have five characters and a co host...he then dropped the idea without comment....also Pat Buchanan didn't go on Savage to promote his book..and the marine he raised money for.."know greater enemy" didn't promote his book on savage show but went on Hannity and just about every other show....now savage has this war with mark levine ....

I think he just realized his audience wouldn't like it.
