Savannah Radio Ratings 8/4/2015

Savannah is likely the most boring market in the country and I follow about 6 very closely that range in size.

Biggest changes: WAEV which went up by a share; WEAS went up by a share and a half; WSOK down; WJCL way down; WZAT is slightly up but for the strongest signal in Savannah, still a pitiful rating. WZAT could go alternative up against the active rock station and probably gain lots of traction (covers Statesboro and Ft Stewart) since 1061 has such a horrible signal into Georgia.

Cumulus classic country format may be cutting into WJCL. Note that WUBB is also down so WJCL's rating drop is not coming from WUBB.

Alpha Media.....OUCH!!!

Guess people aren't turning their knob to BOB. Is another re-branding in it's future? Y100 is starting to tick up a bit, shocked that a Frequency swap would hurt them so bad. It seems in the last week they have shifted more towards a Rhythmic format (you can REALLY see this in the current week to week Playlist comparison). looks like instead of trying to pull from just Kiss, they may be trying to also get share from E93 AND the Beat, Overall probably a smart move but Kiss may tick up a tad due to it. NASH ICON took a BIG bite from HANK and also Hit WJCL AND BOB. Can Savannah's DEMO, almost 1/3rd African American, Sustain FOUR Country station

No, Savannah cannot sustain four country stations, IMO. I sometimes wonder if market demographics play any part at all in decisions taken in
Savannah radio. The two-thirds of the market which is not African American is also certainly not totally a country music audience. Some potential audience in Savannah is obviously being ignored - or at best, it is being badly under served.

I have noticed WUBB slowly meandering away from what brought its early success. They are making adjustments, but I have no clue where they are trying to go with their sound. I rather doubt that WUBB has much of a clue either - and this bothers me, because the thing that most appealed to me about BOB was that they were a country station that did not sound at all like WJCL, whose programming was/is both tiresome and tiring to listen to - in my ne'er-to-be-humble estimation.

News-Talk is an afterthought in the market: It is every bit as predictable as it has always been. C'mon, Savannah radio ... you can do better! 2¢ (and if you will wait, I'll bring your change to you).

We may have a format change ongoing at Y100. the past couple days since my last post, their shift to a Rhythmic lean is basically almost now a full Rhythmic Playlist with maybe the exception of 3 maybe 4 songs, they now Mirror a Rhythmic chart. Almost everything that would be played on a Top 40 but NOT on a rhythmic station is dropping off the playlist.

As of today 11/13/1975 Mediabase Moved Y100 to the Rhythmic Airplay Panel. Savannah finally has an official Rhythmic station once again.
