Savannah shake-up is close?

I have noticed in the past week that the WSGA calls that were on 104.7 have moved to 100.1 then moved again to 92.3fm. Adult Hits "Freedom 104.7" now sport the WTGH call letters while 100.1 now have the former "Smooth Jazz 92.3" calls known as WSSJ.

Tama/Bullie owns Hinesville's 92.3 & 104.7 along with upcoming move-ins at 99.3 & 100.1fm. A website for smoothjazz100.com was registered by Tama last month while I have not found any other websites registered for "Freedom" at either 99.3 or 92.3fm.

I guess the 100.1 move-in is pretty close to signing on and maybe even 99.3fm.

I also assume that Smooth Jazz will be moving to the upcomming bigger 100.1 frequency. I guess the changes to 99.3, 92.3 and 104.7 will soon be public.

Well, this makes decent sense. I have no clue what they would do with 104.7, but 92.3 as "Freedom" might be the death of Jack, while Smooth Jazz on 100.1 would have a much better signal, esp. around Hilton Head.

I wonder if 99.3 or 104.7 won't go Spanish...somebody posted a thing about 99.3 saying that it targets Augusta *and* Hilton Head...

Hmm...could be interesting...

Hey guys I post quite a bit on the SC board among other RI boards... I see that the calls WTGH are now on 104.7... Those calls once apon a time belong to WTGH 620 in Columbia SC... It was black gospel and the TGH calls stood for The Gospel Highway... Does Bullie have any kind of gospel formated stations??? Seeing those calls really perked my attention so I wanted to ask since I don't live in the area... CC

How about putting an FM news/talker on at least one of those other frequencies? Surely that would WBMQ and WTKS a run for their money. Still, it looks like the Coastal Empire radio scene will heat up any day now.

Um, not with that tight-as-a-rubberband playlist "Freedom" won't. I thought Top 40 stations had repetitive playlists...when "Freedom" signed on, I was excited that we now had an Adult Hits station. Then their lack of any playlist diversity quickly quelled my early enthusiasm and so I was very grateful when WGCO flipped to Adult Hits as "98.3 JACK FM". I know many people in the industry bemoan "JACK FM" but I like it and Howard Cogan's liners.

I just hope Tama shakes things up. It's been far too quiet around here. I'd like to see them create a decently programmed alt-rocker to challenge the boring WFXH (Rock 106.1).

Update...

Smooth Jazz 92.3 has started ID ing itself as "Smooth Jazz 92-3 and 100.1, soon to be permanently on 100.1 FM"

How about putting either news/talk or sports on 92.3 FM? Either format would make sense, IMHO. After all, Savannah still doesn't have a true sports station, as WFXH-1130 still barely makes it into the area, even during the daytime. Plus, putting either format on 92.3 at 50,000 watts ERP would allow for programming to be on a strong signal. Any questions? Comments?
