Savannah shakeup

.....they were all asked to leave.....as was the case last week with the most recent MM, Ira Rosenblatt. And yes they are about to hire #6 in the past 5 1/2 years..... CC also has a new MM who was named after Craig Scott left in June to head home to his home base in Tennessee. He had been CC's only MM for 5 1/2 years....

Bill Edwards - CC's morning host on WTKS - mentioned on Friday that there would be a big announcement on Monday; but he gave no hint whether it was a change at the station or some news in the community. I guess we'll know tomorrow ....

So what was the big announcement?

So Upstate; any Monday morning news for us? I went back to Jan/Feb 2010 posts and they were bringing in a new manager at that time. That was TWO managers ago! The average time must be in the 8 to 9 month range. That is almost impossible.

Well, if there was one ... I missed it. Bill was there, so he wasn't it; and I cannot say there was anything different among the usual things he usually talks about, the traffic reports - which may or may not have anything at all to do with reality - and updates about Irene. God only knows what Bill was referring to ... God and Bill Edwards ... and so far, neither are talking. At least not to me. :-[

Yeah, maybe that is what he meant, but he had been talking about that for a couple of days as he was billboarding the coming week's programming and talking about the guys who would sit in for him while he is away.

Well Craig Scott might qualify as having done a "marvelous" job as MM in the eyes of some people BUT I bet if you ask HIM why.....he would tell you his success in Savannah/Hilton Head was due more to the endless list of bad decisions made by Cumulus. If you break it down, CC has made no format changes, maintains the same 6 brands which were in place when he arrived there almost 6 years ago. He steadied the ship, guided the cluster through all the industry's problems but his performance that mattered most was being strong enough to keep the corporate people informed but not involved. He didnt really have to turn around any stations but during these times a steady hand at the wheel is worth its weight in gold....

You hit the nail on the head!!!

Word on the street is that both Cumulus and Triad have approached former CC MM Craig Scott about their market manager job since he is still in Savannah waiting on his house to sell. Not sure if that is true but he might make a difference, especially at Triad/Adventure. The real question is whether he would want to run either cluster after so many years at CC, not to mention his ultimate plans to return to Tennesseee....but in the meantime he sure would be an improvement over the past few managers at both clusters..

Either would be a BIG step down for Craig Scott. I don't believe he would even consider either one of these messes.
