Savannah: Wave 104.9 Lives Again!!!

I was surfing the Internet, browsing Savannah radio station entries on Wikipedia.

Then I got to WWJN-FM's entry (WWJN, until November 2006, used to be WWVV, Wave 104.9, Savannah/Hilton Head's late, great AAA station) and discovered this and it made my day!

I am beyond elated! This is radio manna and I wish JD and Chuck Cannon all the best in their new venture.

Here's my take. I listened to them yesterday in the office. I also recorded 78 minutes of them and listened to that in the car on my commute home and finished it up on my commute this morning. I'm listening now. Nice selection of music, they need to refrain from back-to-back-to back tracks that are somewhat obscure. Sound is slightly compressed but I can live with that. Here's my big gripe: Their sweepers sound like a CHR or Hot AC format, not alternative rock-leaning AAA. Really destroys the feeling I expect. Yes, they are rockier than your typical AAA but still the sweepers just don't sound right. Also do they really need to have a sweeper between EVERY track??!!?? They also need to have a playlist link so one can see what's been played .. That's especially important to a new listener to help him/her decide if they want to listen longer. A playlist also is helpful for the few people like me who record the stream and burn it on a CD to make it portable for listening in the car. They had a very thorough explanation of how one could incorporate in-car listening via cell phone connection. Kudos for that.

That's very good constructive criticism. They do have a buried "Last Songs Played" list, but one has to click on the second "Listen" link for the iPhone.
