Savannah: WHHW Is AAA Now?! Wow, When Did That Happen?

Looks like Alpha Media has flipped WHHW-AM/W228CI from Standards to Adult Album Alternative! Anyone aware of when the flip occurred? It's really cool to see that format return to the Savannah market after the untimely demise of Wave 104.9 (then Triad Broadcasting-owned WWVV-FM, now Apex Broadcasting-owned WVSC-FM).

Listened for a short while. When I think of AAA, I think of adult alternative music. Neither this station or Q1053 really live up to that format. More variety hits than AAA. Assuming AAA can be tweaked on certain directions Vs having a define sound. While Q105 is listed as AAA, I've always argued that description is not entirely accurate. The Island actually sounds similar.

WRHQ (Quality Rock Q105.3) has been labeled in the past as Rock AC. Is that even a format in the industry anymore?

No - Not officially. I believe it's their version of AAA which leans classic hits. Most AAA stations play a few classic hits songs but they tend to be more of the new wave college rock variety (REM, DramaRama, David Bowie) but Q105 will do America and that really isn't AAA. In addition, AAA stations tend to lean more modern and we can all agree Q105.3 is anything but modern with an exception of a few. It's still local and that I will give them credit for.
