SaveWRKO: WRKO experiment pairs Feinburg & the Felon

http://www.savewrko.com

"In what appears to be a last-ditch effort to save Tom Finneran's sunken morning drive talk show, WRKO managers are teaming him up with midmorning host Todd Feinburg. Beginning Monday, the week-long experiment comes after a number of local media personalities, PR insiders and assorted flotsam and jetsam have unsuccessfully been tested next to the convicted felon"

Team Tom Finneran up with Buddy Cianci. "Jailhouse Rock" Radio.... :)

Judging from what I've heard, this effort is much like the Titanic's poolside bar mixing up a new batch of (virgin) margaritas. Not too useful! ;D

The trouble here is that 'the felon' is not a radio guy and just sounds terrible! Not to mention that he has no credibility thanks to his past. He's neither entertaining, nor is he insightful - thus he is not worth listening to. Adding Feinburg, who is mediocre at best, will do nothing to help this sinking ship. Entercom needs to scrap this morning mess and start over again with some decent radio talent.

How hard can it be? A morning gig on a 50,000 watt station in a top market like Boston should be a good talent draw, wouldn't you think? Apparently not - perhaps WRKO needs to raise the pay scale a bit! What a waste.....

Bring back Jess Cain! At 81 he could still do a better morning drive radio show in his sleep than these guys ! ;)

Put Tom Finneran With Paris Hilton and O.J. Simpson . "The Big KO, Jail Morning Show" .

BRNout has it exactly right -

"The trouble here is that 'the felon' is not a radio guy and just sounds terrible! Not to mention that he has no credibility thanks to his past. He's neither entertaining, nor is he insightful -"

It is awful radio no matter which angle you look at it from...Kahn and Wolfe would be fired at any other place of employment for being so inept.

surprised that wrko would put someone on during morning drive who knows how to do radio:). Feinburg will help things out, but there's only so much that can be done.

Come to think of it, O Zone was probably the best thing RKO has had on in the mornings, period.

And what does that tell you?

I guess I was one of the few people who liked Barnicale. I enjoyed his guests, the way he interviwed themnd his stories, and the fact that he didn't take the radio thing to seriously..

Now, I have nothing to listen to in the morning. Finneran is unbearable. What bothers me most is he makes a point and has to give you three examples of what he means.

Friday, he was talking about some teacher at his beloved Boston Latin. He sounded just like he was giving some citation from the House floor. And if you didn't know this guy the 20 minute monolouge was as booring as could be.

It won't be long before RKO just throws in the towel.

What this market needs is a funny intelligent morning show where you can get some information and topical humor.

>>Finneran is unbearable.

Scott Fybush notes in his latest NERW that WRKO is "struggling, badly" with the Finneran show. I don't
know actual numbers lately (and the station tried to spin some numbers from a few months back) but the
fact that they're trying out different co-hosts, including Feinburg, shows that all is not well. While the station's
clean-up hitter, Howie, is doing well, their leadoff batter is batting .063 or so...

But if they move him there maybe they can put Dennis Miller (or even Steph Miller, for the libtalk fans) in his place late mornings.

Did just catch a few minutes of TF & TF--Tom Finneran and Todd Feinburg--on WRKO. They were doing humorous news bits with a third person, "In Other News". OK, though the music bed (sounded like a remake of "Popcorn") got to be a bit much. Next step they should do to this (temp.) partnership: lose Finneran and maybe they'll get something going.

Grace? Jason? ANYONE, please pick up Dennis Miller!

I heard some of this morning's show, and I thought it was a vast improvement over anything they've done so far. Finneran had to push back against Feinburg, so he didn't have time for ums and ahs, plus he's much more interesting when he's arguing a point against someone who is pushing back against him. Plus, he really does know the policies, which forces Feinburg to stay on his toes - he can't just say any wacked conservative thing without backing it up and get away with it.

My primary objection is that Finneran is too conservative on things like gay marriage, so the conversation won't be as interesting on those topics - they'll have to bring in guests for the things they agree on to make it interesting.

good point.
It was almost like when Giles Threadgold was given his own show down on the Cape and once actually
got to host an hour or so of Howie's show. Alone, he wasn't entertaining but he needed to be on with
someone else and have a bit of give and take.

Putting Feinberg with Finnerian is like putting perfume on a pig.

The ex hack, felon, bigot and convicted perjorors problem is that he has no appeal at all. To anyone. His entire being is an insult to any citizen of this state who puts in an honest days work. How can you connect with this guy at all. No one can save this sinking ship. RKO should cutthier losses and axe his ass, but I'm sure that they're into him for such a big paycheck that they can't without taking a substantial loss, so they'll parade him out any way they can.

I agree with varulven. Ozone was OK. Not on his own, but with Blute, who I believe is pretty talented. I listen to him on WCRN even though I live near the Cape & since they went to 50K watts, he comes in pretty clear.

I'd like to see John Keller get a radio gig. he's be a great replacement for the ex hack, felon, bigot and convicted perjoror.
