Say Goodbye Rewind 94.9

Rewind 94.9 is now Mix 94.9. Here's the info from John Kiesewtter.

FM 94.9 changed its tune today. They pulled the plug on Rewind 94.9, “Feel Good Favorites of the 80s & More,” and switched to “The New 94.9, Cincinnati’s Best MIX.”

You’ll hear Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Phillip Phillips, The Band Perry and Carly Ray Jepson between the old Rewind favorites by Donna Summer, Michael Jackson, the Bee Gees and others.

The Rewind format debuted four years ago in May 2009, replacing “The Sound.” Rewind was #10 most of the summer.

It is mainly a rebranding of the station since they have been adding more currents songs/artists to their playlist over the past couple of months.

I think 94.9 The Mix sounds better as John Kiesewetter got it wrong in his blog post this morning. No other changes other than dropping the Rewind branding. Ironically, Hubbard does have 101.9 The Mix in Chicago.

This is somewhat relevant, as 99.5 - which had been calling itself 'The New 99', has now changed to "99 5, The Edge". Seems to be the same music, just a re-brand - and an interesting one because 'Edge' was usually reserved for alternative stations... and this is AC/Mix/whatever you want to call it these days.

I had expected them to go the "Mix" branding at some point. Seeing as they were already playing the artists listed above, for the last couple years, it didn't seem right to call themselves "Rewind" anymore.
