If "WMXQ" stood for a brand, they were actually blowing up Mix 103 about 10 years after its demise!
Now, WIVY WAS a brand...so much that when FCC approved the call sign change for 102.9 before they wanted to switch to Mix, they updated the legal ID and kept WIVY quite prominently in it.
Perfect match as far as us radio geeks go. However, for the average radio listener, call letters mean nothing unless it's part of the branding & imaging. Rarely will you see calls on diary notations.
WXXJ-FM (X102.9: Jacksonville's New Rock Alternative) is basically a clone of WSUN-FM in the Tampa area (97X: Tampa Bay's New Rock Alternative)...Same owner: Cox.
