Say It Ain't So

Maybe my old ears deceive me, but I could swear I heard the morning guy on Cliff doing a long form commercial Friday morning before 9. The topic was "dinner wines," but the dude had a local restaurant owner on the phone. I thought it was a commercial, but it went on and on. Maybe the jock gets free drinks for putting his buddy on the radio?

I believe you are referring to Jeff Bolton and no, it wasn't a commercial. He does a cooking type segment on his show on Fridays. He covers all kinds of areas of cooking and Friday was different dinner wines. :D

Bolton was a varsity football player when I knew of him back in high school...so how about some high school sports coverage?

Ya know, I started pondering this a few weeks ago...we didn't crank out a lot of movers and shakers from South Garland High School, but we sure got a few radio folks out of there. Jeff Bolton ('82, KLIF,) Bruce Gunn ('81; traffic at WBAP & KERA, plus producer at KLLI,) Douglas Barricklow ('91; longtime part of the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network and KLUV,) Bob Corbell ('80; KRQX, KLDD and later an executive with Clear Channel in San Antonio,) me of course ('83,) and indirectly, Teresa Frosini (Ch 11 traffic, who married into the South Garland family by hooking up with a classmate of mine there.) Strangely enough, I was the only one of the group who went through the radio station program at school...the rest caught the bug later on!

That's a real who's who of metroplex radio. ;D More like who's that!?!? :D

HA! Hey, no superstars amongst the bunch there, but still...And really, just a bunch of coincidences that really don't have anything to do with the school itself. I'll repost it on "classmates.com" and see if anyone cares over there. ;D
