SBC LD for ISDN "data" service

Attention all those folks out there still using ISDN stuff. If you're running "digital" audio like a nexus or telos uses, be aware that SBC long-distance has now made it to where you cannot call outside your LATA (local area code), at least in my state of Oklahoma. Needless to say it has be an utter mess for our stations, having to call them numberous times and filing several repair tickets before someone finally realized I was trying to connect "data". If you can do a 1010 dialaround like 10288 etc. and connect, suspect this problem. Appearently it's a government restriction due to FCC tarif rules.

Damn phone co. You'd think they'd tell you these things upfront. Our lines have been connected for years and only now are having this issue.

::)

That's stupid...

Did they change to VOIP-type for carrying long distance calls?

It's getting pretty hairy for codec users...seems like the phone companies keep finding ways to make it not work...with no notice until you can't get your remote connected.

This is not really something new...I ordered an ISDN line to be installed in Daytona Beach a few years ago and specified Bellsouth to provide Long Distance so that the charges would appear on the same bill. A few days after I placed the order my Bellsouth rep called me to tell me that they could no longer provide Long Distance for Data on ISDN.

Later that same year I ordered ISDN service in Texas on SBC (SW Bell at the time). My SW Bell rep told me when I placed the order that they could provide Long Distance on Voice on the ISDN but not the Data. In both cases it was a tariff issue.

After doing some research I decided to use Sprint for Long Distance. I know some folks like MCI but I have had better service with Sprint.
