Scab question

So, are there going to be any Scabs needed for anything durring the writer's strike?

What happens to them afterwards? Will they have trouble finding employment due to Unions rejecting them?

Yes, the soaps are starting to seek out scabs and strike writers as we speak:

Of course strike breaking a serious issue/violation with any union and if their identified they face expulsion from the union and non-union writers who are found scabbing may become banned from ever joining. However during the 1988 strike the soap Another World actually ended up hiring scab Donna Swajeski to be its new head writer following the strike and would remain in its position for four years. She's currently co-head writer for Guiding Light, would be interesting if she went on the picket line considering her background.

Hi everyone:

Being the HUGE 24 fan that I am, scab writing is THE LAST thing the show needs coming off the heels of THE WORST year and a half in the show's history.

In fact, the period dates back to the last few episodes of SEASON 4 when Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland's character) was forced into the underground after being named as the leader of the invasion of the Chinese Embassy in Los Angeles shortly after the Chinese Ambassador was killed. They never did clear up the question of just who the shooter really was. All we know is what the Chinese said what happened.

And I'm certain that's just one example of scab writing....

I say the networks should just SUCK UP and bring the REAL writers back. But we all know they won't do it. They wanna try to break the WGA if they can.

Just my opinion....

Cheers :D

As A Teamster shop steward I would do everything I could do to prevent a scab from joining a union and prevent them from ever getting a union job. Scabs are thieves
trying to steal other people's jobs.

True, but if it's a University or college student, they're not stealing other people's jobs.
They're actually quietly harming their own future.

I wouldn't want to scab today if I knew that tomorrow I'll be tossed out like a bag of moldy oranges, being told that "We have an easy way to replace you..."

Writers should be apreciated and treated like they cant just up and be replaced, but they aslo shouldn't go too far over the edge in their demands either.

I mean, don't treat the writer like it's a sweat shop, but don't let the writer have just anything either. It'll be interesting to see how this whole strike unfolds.

Just another example of why unions are absolutely worthless.

So very glad to live in Tennessee where they are virtually non-existant.
