The question is, how many more listeners will Steve Forbes get a show on KDKA that they don't already have? Forbes is a name for 1360 because they have nothing, to a station with an audience Forbes is pretty much a non starter. At this point, if you want to book fringe characters you'd be better off getting Ron Paul or Cynthia McKinney, who are at least running for something and liable to say something a wee bit controversial. If you want to book someone with a shred of credibility left, you'd book Michael Bloomberg. Forbes is a non starter since his failed presidential run. The only reason 1360 had an in with Forbes was that he and Bowyer almost put together a deal a while back to have Forbes host a PA Newmakers type show in NJ a few years ago. The fact Forbes would appear on a station with no signal and abysmal programming shows just how much clout he actually does have left.
 
No, I don't agree.

Because if my talk radio station can get nationally known names on, and I don't care if it's because they have a book deal or they know the host or whatever reason it is, it does something for your credibility.

It makes the station seem big time.

Steve Forbes will still do that. Dr. Knowledge won't.
 
Dr. Knowledge is a host, not a guest. He pays for his time in a graveyard time slot, so Dr. K is a profitable proposition for KDKA.

I'm still not getting why having Steve Forbes on is that big a deal.
 
Well, since I brought it up, I just thought it was interesting that the little time-buy guy got him at all. Beyond that I don't think it matters much.
 
It's irrelevant if he's a guest or a host, but I believe Dr. Knowledge first came into public prominence as a regular guest on Mike Pintak's show.

But again, having Steve Forbes on the airwaves, or Bill Bradley, or Jimmy Carter to discuss why boiled peanuts have never caught on in the north and why he was rooting for the Braves in the 1991 NLCS after pulling Willie Stargell up to the podium on national TV after the seventh game of the 1979 World Series (THE TRAITOROUS TURNCOAT! I DON'T CARE IF HE IS FROM PLAINS AND WAS THE GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA- THE TRAITOROUS TURNCOAT!), gives the a local talk show the prestige of having a reputation that when a national figure wants to give his message to Pittsburgh- that talk show is the place he is going to go.

But if you prefer, Forbes beats having Lynn Cullen's sister on.
