SCENARIO: What if KVDA picks up NBC affiliation?

This is just a scenario I just thought of.

What if KVDA Telemundo 60 acquired NBC from WOAI-TV and place it on their digital subchannel 60.2? Of course right now it's more than unlikely to happen, but what if it did. KVDA is owned by NBCUniversal and they may use the opportunity to launch a second news operation for the new NBC station, similar to what KNSD did when they got Telemundo from XHAS-TV.

WOAI-TV, after losing NBC, may pick up the FOX affiliation from sister station KABB and move all the newscasts to the former station. KABB will get the CW and KMYS will either go independent or nab the MyNetworkTV block from KCWX, forcing that station to go independent.

What are your thoughts?

That it's extremely implausible, and just won't happen.

On the surface, what you're describing is similar to what NBC did in Boston, but there's a huge difference between Boston and San Antonio when it comes to market size. NBC made the decision to do this in Boston I think because it is a top 10 market, and San Antonio is nowhere near that -- ADI #7 for Boston versus #37 for San Antonio. I doubt NBCUniversal is interested in owning the NBC station in a market that small. In contrast, when it comes to Hispanic market rankings, San Antonio is #7, so well worth owning the Telemundo station there.
