Schauffler Leaving KING 5

Allen Schauffler’s farewell newscast is this Sunday. Allen Schauffler currently co-anchors the top-rated weekend evening editions of KING 5 News at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Schauffler came to KING 5 News in October 1992 as a weekend anchor and general reporter.
From September 1988 to October 1992, Schauffler was an anchor, consumer reporter, producer, and general assignment reporter for KSBY-TV in San Luis Obispo, California. He also worked for a year as a reporter and photographer at KTVZ-TV in Bend, Oregon.

No, not KIRO. According to a tweet from KING 5: "Friends, what we know for now is that Allen Schauffler will be a regional correspondent at a network. Blackmail >> pic.twitter.com/PDKshaFzxn"

I'm glad he'll be around this neck of the woods. He's a solid reporter and anchor... it seemed he wasn't moving up at KING, so I'm glad he'll be able to work at a network. I'll miss his Olympic reports for KING though.

Good to hear! Congrats to Schauffler!!

Who is going to take his place? I could see a Rob Piercy/Shaniqua Manning weekend pairing on KING 5. Rob used to co-anchor the weekend news in Phoenix.

Hopefully Allen does great at whichever network he goes to (I suppose NBC!) He's a good anchor and I've enjoyed the weekend newscasts when I can catch them.

I wonder if he decided to hang up, or is this due to Gannett?

Tweets indicate he is leaving to be the Seattle-based National Correspondent for ........... Al Jazeera America.

Looks like KING reporter Joe Fryer did an interview with him a couple of days ago; a look back on his long career at KING. At least they are letting him go out with class, including allowing him to anchor Thursday and Friday nights as Dennis Bounds' fill-in.

Check out the 'stash.

According to The Wrap Al Jazeera will be opening a bureau in Seattle. My money's on Schauffler staying in town.

At least Al Jazeera is hiring.......

I saw in a comment on the article on seattletimes.com that Rebecca Stevenson got hired to do weather for Al Jazeera from NYC. Anyone heard?

Very good! Rebecca is a great weather forecaster and at times she's really cute...

Alan Schauffler and Rebecca Stevenson are very talented and experienced broadcasters who will make a nice paycheck, but no one will see them. Hey... it's steady work!

Can someone remind me how this is a RADIO topic?

I've said this before, but it bears repeating. This site includes TV discussion. When there are no categories for your city, such as "L.A. TV", or "Chicago TV", then TV is fair game in the other city posts. This has been going on for years, and until the new ownership of this site makes changes, I assume the old rules apply.
