scheduling "hooks" for upcoming songs ?

Hi,

We use Music1 for music schedulling.

We would like it to place a few "hooks" of upcoming songs at the top of each hour

Like e.g. : "Get ready for another hour of power, with these hits coming up" (hook1), (hook2), (hook3), "so keep it here and keep it LOUD"

So what we would like is to schedule the intro-sweeper, schedule 3 hooks (separate MP3's with only a part of the chorus of the song) of songs that are "coming up in this hour" and then schedulling the closing sweeper

... all fully automatic !

Can Music1 do this ?
If so, how ?
If not, who can ?

Please help

Thanks

Pascal

oouch..tough one!!!! I have'nt used music 1 in a while and we were not doing that.

creating the hooks/snippets and scheduling (automated/means random) them is easy enough...your problem is the matching on an automated sytem the actaul corresponding cuts...my only quick suggestion is manually dropping the cuts after the hooks have been randomly selected. or the reverse check the log for three cuts and manually drop the hooks with your liner...either way is a manual process twice every hour...thats a little much. plus you have to create hooks for every cut in your library , or just do the liners/hooks x number a day instead of twice very hour. My clock/scheduling experience is limited there may be a way I don't know of ......but if there is a way no one is sharing that info yet ???

Of course If you are live and not voice tracked ... you check the log for the cuts that hour and just announce them as coming up instead of the hooks....which has been done for years. I probably haven't help you, sorry.

Why not just create imaging that reflects what you want to do, It would make much more sense to create an ID/music hooks sweeper and have it all fully produced where you just plug in the cart number and be done with it. IMO You are asking for mistakes to be made when you try and do what you are attempting to do. If you have no one as a production/imaging person or perhaps a very limited budget for it. I highly suggest that you find some budget for it, it will make you look good and your station sound fabulous. Just my .002 worth.

Not sure if Music 1 can do it. But I'm positive that Music Master can do it. I've used the function before. It works amazing because I randomly (with rules) picks the first 2 songs, then looks ahead in the schedule to a position of choice and plays that hook. For example, I used it with my powers. I'd play the music preview going into the stop set, and it would look to the power after the stop set. So, it was almost like we predicted the future. Sirius hits uses the same software, and schedules the same way. If you decide to switch to Music Master, as for Marianne as your support person. She great with this function.

MusicMaster is a great system. Although, you don't need to 'ask' for a particular person. You will be assigned a unique support person when you buy the software. They all know it inside out. She has, however, been my backup person before.

I so prefer MusicMaster support to the way it worked back when I used Selector.

I am a big MusicMaster fan.

From a programming perspective, I don't believe in doing that. It is a waste of time that you could be playing an actual song. It can also be as much of a tune out as a tune in... What if 'Lisa' doesn't like the hooks it picks. Hmmm, I'll just turn my iPhone back on. They are playing crap for the next half hour.

I think this is less to do with the scheduler and more to do with the playout system in use - some systems allow you to right-click playlist items to create hooks or you can convert a player to "hook" mode. If the playout system has a spec on playlisting importing for hook items, then adjust your scheduler's output template should be quite straightforward.

Never heard of Music1, but I know that Prophet can do it. We did it in Raleigh NC with WRDU. Essentially, your VO parts with SFX are on separate carts from your music, which are on rotators as well. You would schedule accordingly, either in Prophet (where you can hard code) or via Selector:

0001 - VO cart with sfx
50001 - cart rotator hook 1
0002 - VO with sfx
50002 - cart rotator hook 2
0003 - VO with sfx
50003 - cart rotator hook 3
0004 - VO close/jingle

or you can do without the VO parts in between but makes it more difficult to transition between carts.

An EOM is placed accordingly at the end of each VO cart, and at the end of each hook (tighter is better) so that it fires the next cart and mixes correctly.
