JRN Inks Schnitt For Talk Show
By Julie Gidlow

Jones Radio Networks announced on Friday (March 14) that it has added "The Todd Schnitt Show" to its talk-show roster. Schnitt, a 20-year radio veteran, also hosts "The MJ Morning Show," as MJ Kelli, on Clear Channel top 40 WFLZ/Tampa.

JRN Inks Schnitt For Talk Show
By Julie Gidlow

"He is a true professional and hosts one of the most exciting, dynamic, interesting and entertaining radio programs available today. We know that Todd's show is going to take the country by storm and be a cornerstone of an entirely new form talk radio in the U.S."

Are you kidding me? ....ahh just one problem.....Howard and Bubba have already taken the country by storm a long time ago.....so your getting the by product, sorta like hotdogs........
At this time i would all so like to say a few good things about MJ / Schnitt!!...ummm............wait im thinking........well there was.......nope that was BJ. Hold on it will come to me..............Nope Im sorry to the MJ fans I tried to think of something! I just can't think of anything good to say about him right now!! :p

Congrats to Schnit. National syndication is great. I stream it quite a bit up here in the TC. It really has grown into a great program over the last few years, well researched and executed. Beck started out of Tampa and now Schnitt, WFLA seems to launch them. I'll check with a few buds doen there and see if I can get any more info. Best of luck Schnitt, you certainly work your butt off....

I'm a huge fan of MJ's (just look at my website), but I must admit that the quote from Mr. Schonfeld about him "taking the country by storm" is way overdone and pretty cheesy too - and I bet he'd agree! On the other hand, he has earned this syndication deal after pulling double-duty now for almost seven years. I wonder if he will fully commit to this show and drop the morning show at some point. He has dropped hints in the last few months about some possible career changes. Perhaps this is the start of something big for him.

Sorry about hitting up all the Schnitt posts, but the cheerleading is hilarious. The success of this clown perfectly represents how far talk radio has gone in the wrong direction. After many late nights listening to old tapes of Lassiter/Dick Norman/early 90's Lionel/etc, I still wonder, what the hell happened here? The fact that the goofy, and politically naive morning show guy (who thrives on celebrity gossip and f-a-r-t jokes) can come in and pass himself off as a legitimate talk host on such a legendary station... wow. Maybe I'm glad that most of my heroes are gone and buried, so they don't have to see this.

It's not hard to gain acceptance from the rather mushy minded conservative talk radio audience. Sean Hannity proved that you can come in with no knowledge of politics, history, proper use of english language, or anything else for that matter... steal all your show prep from the previous hour of Rush's show, and still appeal to conservatives looking for someone to parrot their ideals. Schnitt has taken this to the next level. One can only hope that there's a special place in hell for those who would misuse our airwaves in such a manner. Those of us who know better can assume that if you like this show you are either too young to remember what talk radio was/is supposed to be, or you've been living under a rock.

Someone here once referred to the Frank Foster show as, "Phil Hendrie in reverse, where the callers know its a joke, and the host doesn't". I feel this way about Schnitt and his fans. Mark Twain once said that it's, "better to be thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt"... now maybe this doesn't apply when you're talking about Britney Spears or flatulence, but when it comes to politics... MJ I'm talking to you.

The Jones radio network, huh? Oh boy... good luck. Someday people will wise up... or not.

P.S.

Note to Radio Info... Is it really necessary to filter the word f-a-r-t?!?!

When it's not being overly ideological, the Schnitt show can be fun to listen to. Lately, though, it seems to have turned into the "Bash Barack" show - as if Schnitt is on a personal vendetta. I guess that's part of gaining a conservative audience. But I can't listen to that level of ideology from either the right or the left and turn the station when it gets excessive.

A-freakin'-men.

Just curious, are there any more live and local afternoon drive shows left anymore? I would no longer call Schnitt local.

Schnitt says his p.m. show isn't about politics. Heck, that's what it's all about, it seems.

It gets very old very quick.

Interesting how someone who has maybe 4 affiliates - all on Cheap Channel-owned stations - is considered a "wild success."

Jones huh? I heard the rumor was Premiere was going to bring him on since it's a CC operated entity. Schnitt joining a network turned out to be true though. I wonder if this will make him rethink continuing his morning show. He'll take home a smaller paycheck, but he'll make more money per hour which will be greatly reduced, and he can spend time with his family.

I would've waited after the election to pick him up unless Jones figures the audience will be into his Barack Obama bashing. Four years ago he was bashing John Kerry, and I'm sure in four years it'll be whoever the democratic candidate is. It's tiresome.

Right now it's 8. I still wouldn't say "wild success" though unless they mean locally on those stations.

Only 8 "Schnitt Show" affilliates. Can any of you naysayer's compare? Good for Todd, I think he's #1 from 3-6 p.m. on 970 WFLA in Tampa and draws sizable numbers on 610 WIOD Miami and elsewhere. Jones might be a nice fit for Schnitt, but I'm not a fan of Neal Boortz, Clark Howard or Stephanie Miller.

Holmes,
That guy is a moron......don't beat yourself up over this smuck!!!!!

Okay. Fair point. I haven't looked at his web site recently. The last time I looked, several months back, his p.m. show had Tampa, Miami, Birmingham and Chas-town.

A nationally syndicated show of a little man who just rehashes Beck and Limbaugh.

Maybe now he knows who Neal Boortz is.

I've been listening to Schnitt for years up here in New Hampshire on my XM. I don't think this guy is just saying what everyone else is saying like some talk radio hosts. He is entertaining, and I think a perfect compliment to a Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh, and a good challenge to Hannity. I think stations would be wise to have a Glenn, Rush, Schnitt lineup. It's been a success just about everywhere its been done!
