Scott Anderson, former middays KLIF-570, dead

Scott died of cancer this week. Not sure of age or other details, but I believe he was doing talk radio in Arizona last. Here's a snip from an old capture of KLIF's website, from 2001 (Scott was blown out in 12/2002 to put on Bill O'Really):

"Scott Anderson is the newest addition to Talk Radio 570 KLIF's lineup of talented, opinionated, local talk hosts. You can hear him weekday mornings, 9-noon, after the Jay and Hilarie show.

"I always wanted to be on the radio," Anderson confessed. "I must have spent thousands of hours as a kid, listening to great DJs and talk hosts, wishing my voice was coming out of the speakers."

Anderson is a late bloomer in the radio business. In 1994, with the encouragement and financial backing of the ad agency where he worked, Anderson launched a nationally syndicated show called "The Hot Tub Radio Party." Impressed with his abilities as a talk host, Anderson's affiliate station in Little Rock, Arkansas, asked him to take over its midday slot in '97. He's been doing topical, opinionated talk ever since.

Anderson initially started out in print, working as editor, publisher and part owner of a trade magazine in the lock and security field. Eventually, he started his own magazine publishing company. In 1987, he had a chance to sell his company for a profit. Anderson took it, and went into the ad agency business, where he spent the next 10 years writing, directing and producing television commercials and programs. He also hosted a weekly TV program called "Dining Out In Arizona".

"But radio is where my heart is," Anderson said. "Working at KLIF and living in North Texas is a dream come true."

Wow. I remember hearing the Hot Tub party while driving through Arkansas in 1999. It was on KSYG-FM "The Signal. Its now the buzz. Didn't realize it was him!
