PRESS RELEASEFor more information, please contact: Craig Unger at 453-5505KTRS RETURNING TO CLASSIC MORNING A.M. FORMAT OF NEWS & INFORMATION BEGINNING MONDAYGeorge Woods to Broadcast Weekday Mornings from 5:30 to 9 a.m.ST. LOUIS, April 28, 2006 - Beginning next Monday, May 1, 550 KTRS will return to a classic morning news and information format featuring Kansas City broadcasting veteran George Woods at the microphone weekdays from 5:30 to 9 a.m. Woods is formerly of TalkRadio 710 KCMO in Kansas City, where from 2002 to 2005 he was the popular host of "A.M. Kansas City." Woods has also been a guest pundit on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, and has appeared on "Beyond the Beltway," the nationally syndicated political talk show. "We will continue listening to our audience and fine-tuning the KTRS format to create the best station on the dial, befitting of the St. Louis Cardinals flagship station," said Tim Dorsey, KTRS general manager. "George will be the perfect springboard to the mid-morning show with McGraw Millhaven, whom our listeners have welcomed back with open arms. Which is to say, George is ideal for St. Louis and will be very popular with our listeners, both old and new."From his humble beginnings in a small New York town, Woods started out to become the world's next greatest actor. When he got to the State University College of New York in Oneonta, as he puts it, "I stumbled into the college radio station one day and sort of never left." After enjoying success as an air personality in several different types of music radio in both the Northeastern and Southeastern U.S., Woods received an offer in Omaha in 1990 to become powerhouse KFAB's first full-time talk show host - and launched a new career. In 2002, Woods joined TalkRadio 710 KCMO in Kansas City, where his natural wit and conversational approach to talk radio quickly made George a Kansas City talk radio favorite. Woods left KCMO in June 2005 and later that year would help to lead the on-air transition team at KTRS, following the station's historic announcement of a new partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals.Earlier this year, Woods launched RadioGeorge, Kansas City's first 100 percent Internet radio station where he would host a daily talk show featuring news, weather, and traffic reports. RadioGeorge has been hailed as a leader in Internet radio and the first station to blend the new technology of Internet broadcasting with traditional radio, rather than just streaming the audio from an existing station. It wasn't just Kansas City listening to Woods. Talk radio fans hungry for great talk listen live on the Internet to Woods all over the world, from New York and L.A. to Egypt, England, France, Spain, and Australia.KTRS, "The Big 550" on the AM dial, is the flagship station of the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball and St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League and the AM radio partner of the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League, making KTRS the nation's second radio station to hold the broadcasting rights to all professional teams in a three-sport town.

Nothing could be worse than Scott and Kermit.I have no idea about George Woods, but if he was so big in Kansas City, why didn't another KC station pick him up when he left in June 2005?

;D Scott and Kermit. He did kind of sound like Kermit the frog.Oh well, I liked that show. A lot better than Kramer.

So let's recap...Sell KTRS for a pittance to the Cardinals..Engender lots of market good will by blowing out local talent, brining in outsiders who know nothing about the market, put them on the air, and laugh about things your St. Louis core demos take to heart..In the middle of the book, do a 360 and try to recapture your lost cume..I'd like to know if Charter and other cable systems have reaped any benefits from the Cardinals move to a 5-thousand watt stick..I know at the one time it was about 50-50 between cable and non cable households..wonder how that's changed in the last three months or so..

I can't believe I have to be the only one sitting here defending this crap.WHat are you talking about? Who is ragging on the city of STL? I've heard nothing but people saying how wonderful it is. Kramer has gone on and on about different parts of the city he loves. He's ripped the East side some, but who doesn't!?? Its an eye soar. Its futile to even try...go ahead and rip.

Scott and Casey were ridiculous. I think having the Cardinals, FOP and Kramer, they'll help carry it to success.
I don't. I can't get off that station fast enough when the games end.Sure, I'll listen to the Cardinals on 550 if I'm not near a TV, but let's take a look at their sports department.Hadley and Monte.Ugh!Hadley, I've never liked, or respected. He is a blowhard who speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He makes no sense, and kisses local team asses like no one on the radio ever before him has. Oh, and he is boring. Viva La Hadley! For all Hadley's faults, Monte is worse. Go back to Chili's, because he sucks. Ignorant? Or is he trying to cause controversy? What he causes me to do is change the channel. KFNS 590 does great post games with Bob Ramsey, a true talent. KMOX post games are good as well. How sad is that? The game ends, and people have to go somewhere else for good post game. Now, the daytime line-up.Geroge Woods I'll hear soon, I don't know anything about him.Milhaven was boring for years, and now he is back. Yipee.Kramer is the only one who thinks he is funny. Down to a 2.5 share. He's been a big help. The Large Morning Show in the Afternoon is tired. While it's the only thing keeping people on 550 outside of baseball, I'm not impressed. It's the same show it was last week, last month, last year, in 2001.Say hello to Karen. *Boing!* Jeeze.

I can. Arbitron book believes it too.

Alex. Sounds like you have some issues. Your negativity is pegging the meters.
It was the subject matter.I really enjoy the Arch, and K-Hits.I like The Press Box with Cusamano and Burwell. Great show.Glover puts on a good show. And I've been having a good time with Boortz and even Franken's crazy ramblings. My point was that in every single daypart, KTRS blew it. They had a golden opportunity to capitalize on the added exposure Cardinal Baseball was going to bring them, and they somehow managed to make it worse. While my dog (A German Sheppard) isn't particularly radio savvy, I believe even he could have put together a better lineup than what we heard on the big 550.

The bio you see was written by none other than George Woods. He's boring and predictable. He never had impressive ratings in KC, hence he was fired. He has had an internet show for a while, but no proof that anyone is listening. Of course, St Louis radio listeners seem to like boring and predictable, so maybe he will work there.
