Kay,
Thanks for the guest book link!

Gil,
Thanks for the comments.

The Captain Jack I remember was Jack Diamond the All-American Boy from Oldies 105.9.
He passed away from complications with diabetes in the 2001-2002 timeframe.
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jack.

Like many here in the Metro, I also grew up listening to Scott as part of the "Dawnbusters" on 94TYX...and I'm proud to say that Scott was the reason I ventured into radio. A few years ago, I got to tell him that personally...and say thanks. When he was on the air, he made radio fun. Everybody has their own personal demons, and God knows Scott battled his over the years. That's not the way I choose to remember Scott...but rather for the magic he made behind the mic. I'm sure that Bruce Puce and Susan B. Anthony Jones are shedding a tear right now.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Shari and the rest of Scott's family. R.I.P. my friend.

Interesting that you should bring up "Susan B. Anthony Jones"...I was the one who introduced her to the Jackson market in 1990 (despite station management's objections) when I did my short stint at Majik 107FM before the station was sold. After my non-compete clause expired, I went to work for WTYX-FM (Oldies 94) and "Susan B." went with me. "Susan B." (Rita Bentley) is a wonderful person with whom I remain in contact. Unfortunately, the influx of corporate control over what is being broadcast, and the "cost-cutting" methods of syndication have taken the fun out of why most of us originally got into this business.

I knew Scott, and I always respected his commitment to the community and his constant "drive" to try to make things better. Even when we were "competitors", we were friends.

R.I.P., Scott...

Sincerely,

Chris Madison (Also known as David "Dawg" in other markets)...
