Scott Sams settles with WFAA-TV

Saw an article in the business section today, 1-20-07, that Scott Sams and Belo had settled their lawsuit. According to the Below owned paper, he only got 4% of the money he was asking for.

He had filed a religious discrimination suit against Belo when they dumped him. Of course, him calling Alexa Conomos a "greek bitch" probably didn't help his job situation, either. :D

Sams has been anchoring the 5PM, 6PM, and 10PM news for NBC KTEN 10 and the 9PM news for CW KTEN-DT 10.2 in the Sherman/Denison area.
 
4% of what ever amount of $$$$ he was asking for. The paper did not give the actual figure.

Must be pretty humbling for Scott. To go from a MAJOR market to the Sherman/Denison area. He might want to learn to watch what he says in a fit of anger.............
 
Actually,he just may be enjoying himself. He spoke up. Morticia/Alexis is not all that well liked by some other "well knowns" at Ch.8 plus fellow traffic reporters. Remove Kathy Clements from the manager's position,Alexis would be right behind.

TV station, Belo ordered to pay $660,000

An arbitrator ordered television station WFAA/Channel 8 and corporate parent Belo Corp. to pay more than $660,000 in back wages, damages and attorneys' fees to longtime news anchor Scott Sams, who was fired from the station in 2004.

The arbitrator ruled Thursday that WFAA and Dallas-based Belo had retaliated against Sams after he complained to management and human resources about discrimination, said attorney Hal Gillespie.

"This was because of his religion, his age and the fact that he's a white guy," Gillespie said. The case was heard in arbitration because of a stipulation in Sams' employment contract with WFAA, Gillespie said.

Where did the GM Clements come from ?? How come she has so much power ?? Is she sleeping with someone at Belo ?? ;D

I bet Scott is still plenty happy with $660k in the bank. That is like that lady who was working for JCPenney, I believe. She only worked 6 months and got a $10 million severance package if I am not mistaken.

Heck, I'd work for JCPenney for 3 months and then they could fire me, wouldn't hurt my feelings ONE little bit if they gave me $5 million for 3 months of work.
