Scott Shanon to mornings at WOR?

That's the thing: He WANTS to be PD of any station where he works. He wants authority over the programming. And he wants a huge amount of money. I don't see either CC or CBS giving him that. They'd be fine having him do mornings, but with no authority and for a lot less money, and if that's what he wanted, he would have stayed at PLJ.

it's hard to see Shannon going to any station unless he's also going to be PD
in addition to doing the morning show. ( wonder if Scott reads radio message boards.
'He must find them amusing. )

Hard to imagine Shannon going to sirius--xm to voicetrack a show unless they give
'him big money & maybe a programming position too .

seems cbs would have nothing to lose by hiring Shannon for WNOW FM.
And maybe something to gain. (ratings & revenue). (That is, if they are willling to pay Scott. )

That's really good news for him. He is a real catch for the station. I hope that he brings the station to a higher level with a more '80's-like' radio feel, like all the other CBS classic hits stations in the country, for example K-Hits in Chicago.
And Scott is a real soundprocessing geek so I hope that this terrible processing at CBS is coming to an end.

Has Shannon stopped or willl he stop airing True Oldies for Cumulus? I think its aired on WPLJ 95.5 HD2--- right ?

interesting move considering who he'd be competing against. I was told he was going to WOR. maybe he was mis directing people to keep it a secret.

Scott Shannon - mornings at CBS-FM

Here's how radioinfo.com reports it-

Scott Shannon Lands at Classic Hits WCBS-FM, New York in AM Drive. What seems the most logical New York station for legendary air personality Scott Shannon turns out to be his next gig as he’ll begin wake-up duties at CBS RADIO’s classic hits WCBS-FM on Monday, March 3. In a press statement on the CBS New York website, the new lineup includes current morning man Dan Taylor in middays and Broadway Bill Lee in PM drive. It appears current midday host Ron Parker is the odd man out, though his status with the company is not mentioned in the press statement.

That must be a good move. Scott Shannon would be a great idea to do mornings on CBS-FM beginning next week, but I can't wait to hear it. But I hope he will continue to run the True Oldies Channel which is now controlled by Cumulus, and it can still being heard on both WEOK and WALL in the Hudson Valley area weeks after he did his final show on WPLJ 3 weeks ago on the same day, the Beatles arrived in America 50 years ago on 2/7/64.
I hope I should record this show next week. On Friday, Dan Taylor will do his last morning show for the 2nd time since 2004 which was 10 years ago when he left CBS-FM to make way for the former Monkee, Mickey Dolenz. Dan Taylor will move back to middays next week for the first time since March 2003 when Harry Harrison left the station and moved him to mornings. Dan has been doing mornings since 2003 and lasted for 11 years. He first left in mid 2004 and then brought back to mornings in July 2007 after "Jack" failed for 2 years. Good to see Dan Taylor returns to middays. Good luck!

Ron Parker always felt like the weak link to me. Hate to see radio folk out of a gig, but they just made their team even stronger, IMO.

On Friday, Dan Taylor will do his last morning show for the 2nd time since 2004

Looks like Dan Taylor already did his second "last" CBS-FM morning show. Randy Davis was doing the morning show today, and there was no mention of Dan Taylor aside from the announcement of Shannon to mornings and Taylor to middays. Meanwhile, yesterday Randy was "filling in" for Ron Parker, and today we've got Charlie Burger in the slot with no mention of Parker, so it looks like he was let go. I never really warmed up to Ron, but since he's been a staple at the station since the post-Jack comeback, I still think they should have given him a proper send-off. And even though he's sticking around in middays, I would have liked to see Dan do a proper "final" morning show as well.

Since Ross Brittain also works for CBS radio at Classic Hits (aka Oldies) 98.1-WOGL-FM in Philadelphia, it would be fun if they team up Scott & Ross for a segment on the phone on Monday. :)

Smart move on CBS's part...whenever you have the chance to grab a well known personality from a competitor it can't hurt.

Will Shannon realllly bring big ratings & revenue to cbs fm?

maybe cbs isn't paying Shannon as much as we think.

I think it`s a real good move for him.the "oldies " music on cbs fm is pretty much the music z100 was playing when they went from "worst to first" under scott Shannon.he might get some of the listeners who listened to him in the 80`s on z100 to now listen to cbs 101.scott also seems to me to be more comfortable doing a show with music from the 70`s and 80`s rather then todays music.

Yes, this is the time to bring CBS FM to another level with more upbeat 80's and imaging to create that style of radio what the target listeners reminds them from the old Z100 days.
