Scott Shanon to mornings at WOR?

Like I said, this would be an excellent move for Scott Shannon and CBS-FM. I'm a huge Scott Shannon fan dates back to the "Z100" days when it was "From Worst to First". He was also the host of the one of the best morning shows on that station was the "Z100 Morning Zoo" along with Russ Brittain, Jack Murphy, JR Nelson, Jonathan B Bell, Claire Stevens, Anita Bonita, Mr. Leonard, Captian Kevin and Dr. Dave Kolin. They were part of the "Z Morning Zoo" team from 1983 until 1989 when Scott left the station to LA to formed "Pirate Radio" and brought in Brian Wilson (not the singer of the Beach Boys). Brian Wilson was with Russ Brittain when they were together on WABC back in its final year as a music station until the station flipped to talk in 1982 and they hang around after the station flipped until the show ended in 1983.

Scott did "Pirate Radio" for a short time until he left in 1990 and went back to NYC to formed "Mojo Radio" when WPLJ brought in and lasted for a short time until 1991 or 1992 when he became the morning host of "Scott & Todd". He also formed his own syndicated network called the True Oldies Channel and it continue to do well right up to this day. I'm so glad to hear Scott Shannon coming to CBS-FM. He is still continue to do TOC and I hope that Dan Taylor will move back to the 10 AM timeslot which has not being heard since 2002 where he took over Dan Daniel's timeslot.

Scott like I said runs the True Oldies Channel which is also part of Cumulus Netowrks and it can be heard on many stations including WEOK and WALL in the Hudson Valley which are now part of Townsquare in which Cumulus took over back in November, but I don't see Cumulus taking over the CBS Radio stations anytime soon. Cumulus owns WPLJ, WNSH and WABC, but not Townsquare. CBS Radio has many of the stations but I don't think Cumulus is taking over WINS, WWFS, WCBS-AM, WCBS-FM, WNOW, WFAN-AM and WFAN-FM anytime soon. This is just for Scott Shannon and CBS-FM.

I grew up with the "Z Morning Zoo" back in those days. They did lots of phone calls, and did lots of "Saturday Night Live" type sketches and many others that are part of the morning show, but I don't what CBS-FM is going to do with Scott Shannon, make some "Morning Zoo" type elements including comedy bits and parody like the way SNL does that. This would be a great idea.

All I got to say is, good luck with his new morning show.

Is Shannon stilll doing True Oldies? I can't imagine cbs would want him to remain on 95.5 HD2 with true oldies.

I doubt Shannon will have a side kick on cbs fm.
but--- we will find out monday morning .

I haven't listened but I've read he does have a morning zoo type crew. A poster on another message board said that CBS-FM doesn't need that type of show, with someone always trying to be funny, and that good music and a friendly personality (a la Dan Taylor) is all that's needed. I agree.

The poster was immediately slapped back by being told it's 2014, not 1985. OK, but does that mean all young people are alike? I don't think so. Not everybody wants to hear mindless schtick -- as evidenced by the explosive growth of online music services.

I'm not suggesting CBS-FM shouldn't go after younger demos -- the same is true of WOR -- the question is how to get there. It's often people in their 50's and 60's (Scott Shannon included) who decide what younger people want and then pander to them accordingly.

Is Shannon stilll on 95.5 HD2 with True oldies? if so, maybe cbs fm does not even care about it
as not many people likely tune to 95.5 HD2.

at their age, how much longer will Shannon, Imus, Jim Kerr , Bill Lee be on the air ?
