Listening this morning and just heard Scott Taylor announce that he was leaving AM drive on Legends to take another position in the company. Anyone up for some rampant speculation?

Full disclosure: Yes, I work for Crawford. No, I don't know anything. :)

Did Scott say he's staying with Legends in another capacity , or did he hint that he's accepting a job at another Crawford owned operation in another state?
Nothing against Scott, but I think the smart move on Crawford's part would be to put Mike Vickers on morning drive.

Interesting!
When Legends made it's move to FM the morning show consisted of Scott and a female co-host. Within a few weeks the woman was gone and it was just Scott. Now Scott is leaving AM drive. I've read some posters comments about Scott's performance (or lack thereof) as a morning drive host. It's possible that Crawford executive's came to the conclusion to make some more on-air changes in order to boost the station's ratings.
One can only speculate so far. Personally I like to deal with facts.

I don't remember the exact wording, but the impression I got was that he was staying in the area.

They also need to boost the power a bit more or move the station on a different place on the dial so some of those other stations don't interfere. Get rid of any songs also that is pre 50s and get rid of the
Frank Sinatra and Broadway shows that are on Sundays.

I checked out Legends web site today and there were no job listings posted for an announcer. So it appears that the company already has someone in mind for the AM morning drive position.

Unless you know some secrets about the FCC that I don't, WLGZ (and just about every other station in Rochester) won't be doing any of that. Everyone is pretty much at their limit for power, and there really aren't other frequencies available.

That doesn't mean a thing. I read in Sunday's D&C that WXXI hired three new employees yet, to the best of my knowledge, the station never posted those positions on their website.
It's not unusual for companies to already have someone in mind for a position but they go through the process of "pretending" to interview prospective candidates in order to avoid possible lawsuits on the grounds of age and gender discrimination.
On the subject of Legends, I heard Mike Vickers on Labor Day, but when I got into my car to head off to Syracuse this morning all I heard was the same tunes, along with some promos. No announcer. So who is doing morning drive on that station?

Some woman, I didn't catch her name, was on this morning. It's possible that the rest of this week the station will have fill-in announcers since it's Labor Day week.

As for WXXI's hiring policies, email me private on here and I will fill you in on a true story that happened to me a few years ago.

Scott Taylor is still with Crawford, and is still in Rochester. Check out the other Rochester holding for Crawford!! Mornings have been filled for WLGZ, but I am sworn to not say who it is just yet..

Scott Taylor (air name) is on the 990 frequency. I called 102.7 this morning and that's what Gina told me. I listened to 990 this morning on my daily walk and sure enough that's Scott - broadcasting as WDCX Rochester. Yes the same WDCX outta Buffalo, 990 is ID'd as WDCX Rochester. I also recognized 'DCX's GM in Buffalo using his pipes for the station ID. Scott announced what was coming up for the day and he did mention that Neil Boron will be on this afternoon - which would probably amount to a simulcast of the FM from Buffalo?
Scott is still at the station as well as his wife who works on the weekends.
The new morning drive jock? The one their testdriving on Sunday nights. Of course, not mentioning any names or anything.
Does this mean then, that by Crawford dippin' into the kitty a little bit deeper for morning talent that a Music Director that knows how to program music and shedding the worn-out jingles is not too far behind?

The guy on WLGZ Sunday Nights is Mike Vickers, one of the two previous WKLX "Oldies" Radio talents at the station, and NO it is NOT him being "test Driven" for mornings! No more hints from me however. Mike has full-time job he won't be leaving anytime soon, I can practically guarantee that.

Seems to me, from everything I've read here and the few times I've heard WLGZ, it's going to take a whole lot more than an established morning drive personality to fix what's wrong with the WLGZ format.

But you know who would be killer in morning drive on WLGZ, IMHO? The Greaseman. Strap on a gun... pin on a badge and get yerself a lawwwwww mannnnn! Not that it would happen, given Crawford's reputation and Grease's penchant for tellin' tales from the Hoblelagaga Handbook of Love weekends in D-C. There have been worse theories floated on this board.

As to what WLGZ really needs? How many times does a veteran programmer like Bob Savage, sitting out there in beautiful downtown Avon have to say it? Collect 400 bona fide, sure-fire, in-demo hit songs from 65-85. With precision and disciplined calculation, rotate in a few "oh wow" songs from hit artists/groups only once or twice a daypart to give the image of depth, but stick with the hits from the hit-makers. Dayparting is critical. Lose the lame jingles. Hire a clean, contemporary sounding image guy to produce sweepers that hammer one or two specific product-benefit themes. Use call letters, frequency and slogan. Wash, rinse, repeat.

If an out of the biz hack house painter like me can read a message board and figure it out, how hard can it be?

If its who I think it is this could be an interesting development because this person would definitely have a role in cleaning up the programming. I'm not sayin'.

I am curious but isn't it a required policy to advertise job openings to allow for qualified candidates to apply, or isn't that a set policy in broadcasting?
I know the company I work for not only takes out ads here in Rochester, but also in Buffalo, Syracuse, and other newspapers, plus we place a notice on the company's website.
If WLGZ already has someone in mind for mornings then it has to be a current employee. If not, and the process was not opened up for other to apply, don't you think your station is limiting itself when it comes to potential talent? I have noticed your station has two job openings; a receptionist and part-time board operator, but nothing else.

So if it's not Mike Vickers, it must be...you(Paul Jason)? You also worked at WKLX a long time ago, did you not? If you are the one, congratulations in advance. If it's not you, then it's some other former KLX/BBF-FM personality and/or programmer? Peter King? Chris Whittingham? Tom Noonan? Al Brock? Denny Alexander? Nick "Nick at Nite" Evans(aka Big John Evans)? Just throwing some old names around for the fun of it :)

Cee...Thanks for the promotion, but it is NOT me either. Like Mike Vickers, I have a full-time job that is way to lucrative (and secure!) to ever go back to radio full-time. Yes, I am the other former WKLX guy currently at Legends 102.7FM . I did Morning Drive back then. My good friend Mike Vickers was our Midday Guy. Since we're throwing out old names from WKLX, how about Rockin' Rich Albert, Alex James, Jim Edwards, Curt Monday, Jim Lawrence, Steve Springer, Dee Colins, Dean Close, Joe Deane, Les Tyler, Sherry Smith, and former Program Director Bill Tod.
