Scott "Thunderbird" Wheeler steps down as KOOL Radio Morning Host

Scott "Thunderbird" Wheeler has stepped down as the KOOL Radio morning host as of last week. A posting on his Facebook Page said "doing 2 radio shows daily got to be too much for him". He will continue to be heard Noon-6 Central on WIRL 102.7/1290 in Peoria, Illinois.
https://www.facebook.com/RealScottWheels/

The new morning host on KOOL Radio (96.1/990, 100.1/1270, and 104.3/1180) is Lee Armstrong.

It's worth noting Lee Armstrong is the 4th morning host on KOOL Radio since the station launched in July 2015. The others being Fred King and Larry Kratka. Both of them were local from West Springfield.

I believe that's Leon Strong, not Lee Armstrong. If so, longtime former afternoon jock on now-defunct Oldies WWOD-WFYX in White River Jct VT/Walpole NH.

Defunct? I was just up there last Friday and it was on the air and playing its usual assortment of '60s and '70s hits. Did something happen over the weekend? In fact, I just checked the website and nothing's changed. Still streaming, too -- "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" playing at the moment.

Should have been clearer with my post, yes the call letters survive with a similar "Kool" format, but before the current owners acquired the stations in a bankruptcy auction it was known as Oldies 104.3 and 96.3 (104.3 "moved out" of the CT River valley closer to Plattsburgh). WWOD calls got reassigned to 93.9. So, same format but different owners, different branding, different dial position (though 96.3 remained constant)

I apologize for getting the guy's name wrong. I was listening on my Walkman while I was half asleep, so I thought I heard what I heard. I don't always listen to radio in the morning so today was the first time I hear the new guy. When I heard him I grabbed the laptop checked out Scott Wheeler's Page. And of course I wouldn't have gotten the guy's name wrong if Full-Power Radio had bothered updating their website. It's such a poorly designed site that I don't know why during the TOP Of the Hour ID on the 3 stations they bother saying something to the affect "Streaming World-Wide at KOOLOLDIESRADIO.NET". They should instead "Streaming World-Wide on TUNEIN.COM".

There's advertising on their web page, so they'd be throwing money away by sending listeners to tunein.com or even letting them know that it exists. I know what you mean about the homepage, though. That poll on favorite Bowie song has been up since just after Bowie's death!

Isn't the poll up because this week is the 1 year mark of his death? As for for that station's morning show, I don't listen to the station often enough. I almost never lsten to it in the morning.
