I heard that Scott Wheeler is no longer at Emmis. I haven't seen anything here. Is that correct?

The PD position for B1057 has been posted for a couple of weeks now, along with the LSM position for the station also.

Sad to report, it is true. I've worked with a lot of air people in my 42 years & Scott Wheeler was in the very upper tier in my eyes. If Scott Roddy launches an Oldies format at 107.9, I'd thoroughly enjoy hearing his dynamic "classic top 40" delivery there.

I would not be surprized to see Scott Wheeler at 107.9, he's been around several stations.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Q did oldies? From what I heard years ago, Bom & Tom is what holds Q up and it's not the music.

Then I wonder how the advertising agency would deal with this since they have Bob & Tom?

Speaking of people leaving Emmis....
Does anyone know if more folks have been let go there recently? I ask because Mr. Morgan has hired Bob Richards, Promotions Director Lisa J., and recently traffic folks from Shadeland. With all the hires, there's been no mention of other folks getting the boot in the process. Was Emmis THAT understaffed?? Or has there been more "collateral damage" [jobs lost] than what we've heard about?? ???

Shadeland is moving downtown. I wouldn't be surprised if there have been more and will be more of the same changes. Be weary of any job ads for Emmis. They are mostly EOE ads. I'm sure they have people already selected for those jobs.

The traffic and promotions positions were filled due to people leaving on their own to pursue other opportunities. No other job loss has occured as of yet. I wish the best for Scott and hope he lands somewhere soon.

Scott has been in the market for over 30 years now and has worked at EVERY station IN IT so far, so i imagine he will....
if i were betting, you will find him on 107.9 when they flip formats, along with the rest of the tired "Re-Cycled" group that goes from station to station in this town. if jeff pigeon ends up there i'm going to puke.

Winter seems to not be his favorite time but have a feeling he will be at 107.9 unless he decides to go for something where it could be warm more often.

not that i agree with them or even like them but, do they have "Non-Compete" clauses in Indianapolis?

more power to scott wheeler!, if he can work his way through EVERY RADIO STATION IN TOWN over a period of 30 years in the market, most CAN'T... in most situations somebody gets fired in radio..and IF they want to stay in radio they have to move where the work is, and in some cases MANY TIMES through a career. i have nothing against scott wheeler, he is an average fine versatile air talent, but there are hundreds of people of his caliber and better, who will never get the chance to break into the market BECAUSEindianpolis seems to be like some kind of "exclusive club" that seems to Re-Cycle
the SAME people from station to station. who was the last air talent in Indianapolis that was hired outside of Indianapolis or INDIANA for that matter, where did they come from and when? it is not just scott that i'm talking about either with this syndrome or Indianapolis for that matter. after 39 years in radio and 15 moves across the country chasing a radio pay check and a dream , i realize now that i should not have left the Circle City after college, I COULD STILL BE IN THAT "ELITE CLUB"
known as Indianapolis Radio Broadcaster. but now.... i really don't care anymore.

I am sorry that you haven't been get back to the market. The "recycling" of players is definitely not limited to Indianapolis or programming. It is the "devil you know is better than the devil you don't" syndrome. There is a lot of it in sales as well. People hire people with whom they are comfortable. People are often more comfortable with people they know. Some of it comes down to $$ as well. There are no moving expenses involved in hiring someone local. Also the unemployed are more likely to work for less money. Sad, but true.

No. You're looking at it at too simple of a level. There's more to it. It seems there are a lot of fair to no talent people that tend to make the rounds in this market.

And, no, I am not talking about Scott.
