If you have worked in the media,especially DFW,you would fully understand why. Expressing your opinion on the clock at work is one thing, but when there is retaliation for doing it at your own home on your own time,that is vastly different. Job performance should be based on what you do at work,and how well you do it. Not because your opinion differs from a co-worker,boss,etc. and expressed elsewhere. I am sure I'll get flack for that, oh well it's expected.

My screenname is just difficult enough not to be a dead giveaway but if you've worked with me and have decent deductive reasoning skills you can easily figure my identity out. If KurtisJ trolls the boards he knows exactly who I am.
The anonymity of the forums is nice. There probably isn't a single soul in here who can walk up to his/her PD and go "Ya know what Dave, you're a total f*ckwit, I just thought I'd let you know how I feel," and not get pink slipped.
I try to draw the line between trashing someone for the hell of it and trashing someone I have personal experience with. I say try because there are times when I have gone off on someone I know very little about - i.e. Fitz and Mark Davis.

Staying anonymous is just fine. It's a place for everyone in the biz to harmlessly blow off steam. It's become a very frustrating industry to work in since Wall Street took over. When you remain anonymous, you can absolutely be honest without fear of retribution.
BTW... those Best/Worst threads are lame. It's all opinion. How about throwing some ratings into the mix?

I have heard stories of promotions personnel, as well as programming and sales staff members that have been fired and blackballed in this market because of things that they have said, not necessarily on this board, but in general.
I apparently was the burr under promovet's saddle to get him going about this, and I just wanted to say that everything I have said it completely the truth and can get me blackballed from Dallas radio...and frankly, I don't feel like loosing my job because someone wanted to know my identity.
It's important for us to have this medium to blow off steam or allow each other to exchange information thru anonymity. In some instances, this information may not come out if it wasn't for these boards and its' anonymity.

You weren't the burr of the post..just don't say your easily accessible in a post then not be able to get a hold of....we both went through the same thing at "you know what station" and did you ever think I might just want to keep in touch...I wouldn't throw anyone under the bus for anything they have said..everyone is entitled to their opinion and I have been thrown under the bus numerous times when I was in broadcasting. Believe me I have been blackballed from Clear Channel because of one promotions director's ego and I would never wish that upon anyone...I just think some of the bashing is excessive on this board but again everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is America where we do have the right to free speech...to an extent i guess..

The issue of free speech on Radio-Info.com is a moot point.
Others own and run this board. It is not the posters' board.
No First Amendment right exists on this board.
And, the administrators and moderators can delete and ban anyone they wish since it is their board.
However, I believe the moderators use good judgment most of the time.
It is not an easy job.
