Scrooge Finally makes his appearance in the Wiregrass

The Christmas spirit was nowhere to be seen as a certain radio morning show decided to overstep their bounds and accuse another radio station of "dropping the ball" and not providing for the children of the wiregrass.
It just so happens that the accused station was not contacted this year to offer assistance to the Angel Tree program, yet they helped provide information, aid, care and gifts for over 400 elderly residents in our area through the SARCOA program. The support was so overwhelming that they had plenty of gifts and donations to help even more area seniors that are having a hard time this holiday season. Now, you can argue who needs more assistance at this time of year, the kids or the elderly, but I think I know where I would and did (Wifey and I sponsored a resident) offer my help.
So in the spirit of the season, I will refrain from name calling and ask for a better understanding of the situation before you accuse me and my radio station of "dropping the ball".

Sounds like amateur hour is in full effect in the Dothan market. But you folks in the Wiregrass probably just call it "Thursday."

Amateur hour, Indeed. When our morning show host gets a call on his cell phone from the accusing station host, questioning his "Manhood", Then the gauntlet is thrown down. I don't know why this taking the turn it is going, but I will step up and defend my boss any way I can.

Hey, man....send them a fruit basket. Any publicity is good publicity, Skip! ::)

Agree with the fish killer on this one. Don't think "On Air" attacks of other stations will work in Dothan.
Only place I have ever heard of it working was "Power Pig" in Tampa years ago. A whole different dynamic.
And obviously Dothan ain't Tampa. Be thankful for the publicity and don't get into a pissing
match with them on the air. Or you will be promoting them.

AMEN.... and thanks to everyone who helped make this Christmas special for both the kids and the elderly...as they both need our help..... It is just that the bragging station has not learned the true spirit of Christmas is Giving to others and not bragging about it or tootin' your own horn, which is exactly what they are doing.....shame on you... but that seems to be par for the course for bud and jerry broadway

You folks see/heat the story that the letters to Santa from kids this year have themes like, "Please bring us food", or "a warm coat for my Momma". Go ahead y'all, snipe and growl and get into contests of manhood, please try and out-do one another as who has/is helping the most people of any age. Whatever helps, whatever gets the support to people that need it, I don't care. Most all of us are sacrificing in one way or another right now and some reading this may be absolutely destitute just hoping to be able to keep the heat on and feed the kids. B**ch and moan all you want, whine cry and cuss at each other all you want, challenge each other all you want in good or bad ways BUT stand shoulder to shoulder with those you hate and that hate you and help them and others to get through this tough time.

Matter of fact, I'd like to see a present or past radio owner put up a post on these boards that says if any radio folks (past or present) is in a bind and needs help to send them a personal message.

There are my challenges to you folks. Just remember, this tough time will end. Don't be so damned egotistical that if you need help, you don't ask.

Great post, Stewy. Preach it brother.

I've never seen a market with so many drama queens. Does anybody else feel the same way? What is it with Dothan?

Bud, hang in there dude. And welcome to Dothan by the way. Don't judge the entire Dothan radio market by this one incident. Dothan finally has an entertaining morning show in Bud and Broadway and, it would appear, some people are quite uncomfortable with that, as they probably should be. Y'all just keep doin' your thing and Dothan will embrace you as they are increasingly doing already. People are talking, trust me!

Dothan is so screwed up.....you dream and wish darkman.....
You would not know good radio if it were to bite you.

I never said it was good radio, home boy. I just said it was entertaining for Dothan. It's all relative. I will agree with you that Dothan is one screwed up town. Craziest market I've ever been in. But I like Dothan. Where else can you get cow sugar and race lawnmowers all in the same weekend?
