SD - Fox affiliation?

Anyone hearing any grumblings in San Diego about XETV possibly losing their Fox alliliation to KUSI? I know Fox can't be happy with XETV. But how much better can KUSI do? Or is this an FCC issue since XETV is a Mexican license?

FOX is no longer making it a secret -- they want out of Tijuana. McKinnon has always said he wants KUSI and Fox to pair up...so it appears when XETV's affiliation agreement is up, or sooner if the courts agree, KUSI would become San Diego's Fox. Odd out here is Entravision/Bay City TV, which has a considerable investment in XETV and its MYTV LP partner, Channel 49/Cable 13. Anyone want to speculate what might happen to XETV if Fox and McKinnon get what both apparently want?

I really hope that this rumor comes true. It is a huge pain trying to bring in the local HD signals from three different points here in SD.

Wow life must be tough for you. Damn how do you survive?

Well it sure is easier not having to pay either Time Warner or Directv if I want to watch the local HD channels for free using an OTA.

A little more fact-checking, please

Cox Cable is the San Diego cable company and has been for many years.

As for Univision? XEWT-12 carries many of the same shows and has a San Diego sales office.

Then you should probably tell all of my neighbors in Mission Valley and the people living in Coronado that they have been paying the wrong company all of these years. TW Cable serves San Diego north of I-8, Cox is south of I-8 and basically the rest of the county.

I was going to say the same thing because my wife has relatives over there who have Time Warner cable in San Diego. Obviously with San Diego being a major city it has two big cable operations but they seem be unaware of it.

With digital TV XETV's signal on VHF is a mute point. Fox can do as well with a digital signal on UHF.

I think more important is cable positioning -its already a mute point in this case before digital TV consideration.

Typically VHF stations got good cable positioning (usually on the VHF number), but the few UHF that did, also could compete.

KUSI has desirable Ch.9 positioning, on Time Warner and Cox.
