SE Relexion Filter

I use the larger version. I does work, but there's a limit to its effectiveness. I tried it in a fairly large (average sized living room) untreated space and was still getting slapback into the mic. It works better in a smaller space with some additional acoustic treatment behind the talent, like quilts, moving blankets or - ideally - bass traps such as Owens Corning 703.

I just bought the smaller version for use with my 416. I have the walls in my spare bedrm...er, studio... with Auralex and egg crate. Plus I have a ghetto booth I made. Hopefully all of that plus the SE will help minimize room noise.

The small one is $149 if anyone is interested.

In Las Vegas I was lent one..couldn't use it with the 416 so it must have been the large one. They said to use a side addressed condenser, so I swapped out an AKG414..but then I couldn't see the copy on the computer screen...It actually seemed to have it's own reflexion issues..so didn't blow me away. Nope give me the pillows from a Hampton Inn, and call the front desk for an extra blanket, and drape the whole mess over a lamp..pefection!

I tried out the bigger Reflexion filter.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

The major problem you probably need to deal with is bringing the height of your room down...

I have a very DIY setup, that works for even my network clients.

I was recently told that my studio sounds better now than it ever has.

I can send you pictures...but it'll cost you less than $200 to build.

And you may already have materials laying around to use.

Email me and I'll send you pics!

well....I bought the smaller version of the SE Filter, which is perfect for the 416. However... I don't like the sound. Sounds dull...weird.

Anyway... that's $150 out the door. Looks cool though, lol!

The sound gets muffled or nasal if you push the mic too far back into the filter. The bigger one might have been better.

It's not a cure all.

Go to U-Haul and "borrow" some blue packing blankets..They are the best! But ya gotta get the BLUE ones. The green ones are too thin.
