SEACREST "IN" AT COAST

Afternoons

I actually suggested this a couple of months ago but had my facts screwed up as I was thinking he did a morning show.

So now it's T&B mornings, tracked middays, Seacrest afternoons, Delilah nights. T&B will interview him on air tomorrow morning although they probably won't say what they really want to.

Striking similarities in theory to the order of the day at B101. Nobody live after morning drive.

Seacrest does do a morning show - on the West Coast.

Once it goes through all the processing, it is then repackaged as a midday or afternoon show.

And of course, we all remember, The Greaseman used to do his "morning show... at night"! ;D

Seacrest in? Geeeez.... I don't like that guy. I don't know who's worse Seacrest or Carson Daly. They both make me a little bit ill. But I've got a lot of respect for Dick Clark and Dick seem to have a lovefest for the guy. So...ok...whatever then. That's fine. Seacrest "In". But isn't he more geared towards the Pro-FM crowd? hmmmm..... Maybe it's just my perception of it. Actually the Pro-FM Crowd that once loved him is nearing the age of people making the switch to WSNE who probably still love him. Ugh.... another out of market voice to add to the mix. To bad that it's not a better one.

They should put Greaseman on instead of Ryan Secrest. At least Greasmen is semi-interesting with his goofy voices.

Does anyone think decisions like this are the reason for Rick Everett falling from grace at Coast? I'm sure he didn't bargain for programming a station you could program blindfolded and too much disagreeing with Corwin meant he had to go. Remember when a big part of being a PD was working with the staff? That part's gone except for the morning shows over there.

I've said it a hundred times before, but I'll say it again. One day a Radio station will be nothing but a little room with a computer and a satellite dish outside. Each day that harsh reality becomes closer to the truth.

Just like the rest of the world.

Now it looks like they're finally dropping Delilah.... replacing her with John Tesh.

Tesh is in? That is funny because I was actually just looking up some info on him Tuesday night while getting some music that he composed for an Olympic Album. Music and intelligence for your life radio is what he calls it. A show pretty much written around how John and his wife Connie live their lives. I'm listening to a clip right now. The music is a little funky, but anythings got to be better than Delilah.

WOW! This new PD has it together!

NOT!!!

I mean, let's change one satellite show for another....and then take off a voicetracked show and replace it with s SECOND satellite show! BOY oh BOY! That shows creativity and an original mind!

Creative minds have left the building. These days stations are afraid to hire creative types. They look at it as a risk. So they just hire cookie sheets now.

I listened to the clip of the announcement on the Coast website.Tad and Brian did a good job at faking enthusiasm. The attraction is that he is a show-biz somebody and knows celebrities and blah blah, none of which means anything when it comes to local radio. This is the first step in Coast's throwing in the towel.

Yes, but, at least Ryan will record a few "personalized" liners and rejoiners for the Coast, so that has to count for something in terms of local radio, right? :D

Who's on between 6-7?

Pro-FM premeptive strike liners today, when you hear Ryan Seacrest, the station you know is 92PRO-FM when Gio & Kim were talking about AT 40 this weekend....good going!

Good idea. Yes it's all about the diaries and Seacrest is associated with AT40. No one probably even knew he had a radio show and with Coast's numbers not that many will know. I saw the story on All Access about Seacrest saying Tad and Brian do a great job in the morning and so on and so forth. Now they can refer to him as their old buddy Ryan Seacrest but he won't remember their names by next month. Total waste and one less worry for the PD. Soon about the only people he'll have to interact with are the members of the street team.

Here's the fatal error that Coast will make with Seacrest - and it's the same error they've made with every other thing they've ever done - they won't MARKET it!

Shell out for some TV, do some direct mail, billboards, anything! Coast is notorious for changing and tweaking the station but not telling anyone about it. The people who listen to the station know, and those who don't like the change leave. But they do NOTHING to attract new listeners. It's unreal!

I wonder if you polled 100 non-radio people and asked them if Joannie was still on Coast how many would still say "yes".

Seacrest will be a non-issue. People will hear it and probably assume they're listening to ProFM and credit them accordingly in their diaries. The Trail will dominate, Oxford St. will scratch their heads.
