Seacrest -- IN!

So, I just noticed that Ryan Seacrest is now on 12n-3pm on 98.9. Cody Robbins continues on 9a-12n.

Great news. I was concerned about Mr. Seacrest. He doesn't work much, and needed a job.

And so it goes...

DeadElvis... OUT!

Oh, that was Seacrest I heard

I could have sworn it was the sound of Presto's ego screaming that he is still the best know personality on that station.

I was a little surprised that WHBQ-FM didn't put Seacrest on the air. I think it's great that they are staying live and local but I'm sure it had to be a consideration, just from a financial aspect. I also noticed that AT40 is not listed as a show on www.q1075.com any longer. I know that if a station that was carrying the AT40 did not pick up the Seacrest mid-day show that they would also lose the countdown show.

Anyone know if AT40 will be heard on 98.9 as well?

K~

AT40 has been running on 98.9...

and Booker, don't be a hater

;D

"AT40-The 80's" runs on Saturday 6-10am and Sunday 12-4pm.

I haven't heard that Seacrest's current AT40 will be aired on 98.9.

I just checked the AT40 affiliates listed on www.at40.com and it says the following.

Memphis, TN WHBQ-FM 107.5 Su7a11a
Memphis, TN WQMA-AM 1520 Su12p4p
Memphis, TN WUMS-FM 92.1 Su12p4p
Memphis, TN WUMS-FM 92.1 Su12a4a
Memphis, TN WYDL-FM 100.7 Sa10a2p

K~

If I was a hater I'd be talking about their awful morning show

KIM's website lists them as carrying AT40 on Saturdays

WQMA? In tiny Marks, Mississippi? Seriously?

I didn't know AT40 could be delivered by carrier pigeon. :D
Brings up an interesting point. Read the following list of supposedly Nashville stations that carry AT40. ::)

Nashville, TN WAKQ-FM 105.5 Su6a10a
Nashville, TN WCVQ-FM 107.9 Sa6a10a
Nashville, TN WGIC-FM 98.5 Su10a2p
Nashville, TN WRVW-FM 107.5 Su10a2p

Of these, only WRVW is a Nashville-based station. WAKQ (KQ-105) is in Paris, TN (over an hour away from Nashville!) and can only be heard here via internet. WCVQ (Q-108) is in the Clarksville-Fort Campbell-Hopkinsville area, and WGIC is in (I think) Cookeville! ??? Why not list these stations in the markets in which they can actually be heard? ???

Same reason ANYBODY ever fudged on a resume...
What looks better?

"DJ Herder/Management Butt Kisser?"

OR...

"Program Director/Operations Manager?"

We all know that at most stations these two descriptions are about the SAME job!
While no one may rush to hire a DJH/MBK, from time to time, stations need a good "PD/OM!"
;D

Nope.

I was a PD/OM in my past, and the job encompassed more than just programming. I was in charge of stuff like coordinating engineering (important when you use a contract guy. Fortunately, I speak "geek" and was able to anticipate and diagnose issues.), all aspects of license retention (including, but not limited to, Public File, EEO, etc.). I even worked with a contractor to put together an application for a new AM signal. PDs don't generally do that.

I suppose you might make the argument that all OMs are PDs; but I'm not sure that all PDs are OMs. At least, not in my experience.

Your actual mileage may vary.

DE

Ha! Yeah, I guess that's true. Virtually all OM's were PD's, although they DID let someone called a "PD" do music calls and deliver bad news to jocks. The really complete stations seemed to have an OM, a PD, and one I like to call the "MD" that got the joy of dubbing music into the hard drive (or onto cart, even, back in the day)

Well, if I lived in Paris, TN, and was trying to find AT 40 on the air, I seriously doubt I would think to look under "Nashville" in those listings. Paris is over 100 miles away from Nashville! In Tennessee, we don't impress out-of-staters by trying to give them the impression that we live in the big city, when in reality we may live several counties away! ::)

"Where do you live?"

"Just outside Chicago."

"Oh, that's nice. What part?"

"Milwaukee."

When WQMA carried Rick Dees, the Rick Dees affiliate page also listed WQMA as bein in Memphis.

With Regards to why AT40 and Rick Dees did that, I think it was 'cuse they list the station as being in the nearest DMA.. and im some twisted way, 'QMA is in the fringe memphis DMA.

mixed time verb?
ummmm..."ripped" feel better?
hell...YOU'RE older than me, brother 'saur....you choose whichever verb you like that means "putting the music on a cd into the computer system." i think my post will end up with the same meaning.

uh, what? Sorry if I peed in your cereal...but I was wondering why anyone would dub anything nowdays. Doesn't it come in an e-mail and you just load it onto the drive? Your'e right, I am older than you and I have no idea how it's done today..so it seemed like "dubbed" wasn't quite right.

But, hey...thanks for setting me straight here.

Jeez, the whole world is getting touchy these days.

'Saur OUT.

WQMA is a moot point...off the air for more than a year,,,JBI

A year?

I must have been one of the last persons to hear the station then, because I recall hearing it last time I passed through Marks, in the middle of the night no less. That was probably in July or August last year.

In fact, I assumed that I heard WQMA very recently at night near Lambert... Oldies, no ID, but pretty solid for a little bit.
