With Seacrest being in the news latley (cnn, usa today, etc) I have to ask why they haven't thought to syndicate his morning show. He has exposure on Idol, E! TV, co hosts the new years eve party, etc. This guy is everywhere plus with living in L.A. I am sure many stars drop by his show but that is just a guess since I don't listen to it on line. Just think it would make sense to syndicate his show and I am sure many smaller market chr's would be interested to bring star appeal to am drive. Thoughts?

Maybe he wants to avoid overexposure.

Seacrest Blvd, paralleling I-95, is one of the
main streets of Boynton Beach.

They should rename it Ryan Seacrest Blvd
for a WHYI "Y-100" promotion.

I would think it would be pretty hard to syndicate a west coast show nationally, since he signs on at 9am Eastern. You could do a regional syndication, but outside of LA, you really only have a couple of markets where the show would work, and they already have sucessful shows.

Hell, San Fran doesn't even have a CHR.

Also, when you syndicate, you loose the locality at your flagship market and your numbers usually take a big hit. See Kraddick. KIIS probably doesn't want to loose the dominance they've worked so hard to acheive over the past few years. Blowing out Dees means you have to have a VERY successful show to make people forget about him lest the be pissed at ya.

We all know they tried to Syndicate Dees in the last few years before they replaced him with Seacreast, and to my knowledge, the syndication of Dees did not work well, either for KIIS or for gaining stations..

I think Syndicated morning shows have their places but in most markets it's probally better to do something live and local.

Re: Seacrest Blvd.

FWIW, when XM still (somewhat) simulcasted KIIS/LA, Seacrest's morning show was carried in (IIRC) two different incarnations - one "in sync" with KIIS, and a different one that was edited to completely excise local content and just offer the artist interviews.

Also, those stations that want to add him as a "star" name can simply add AT40 on weekends.

I tend to agree that a syndicated morning show would reduce impact in LA and lead to overexposure nationally.
