Haven't really listened to the morning show, but on Wednesday mornings does he spend a good part of the show doing American Idol stuff?

Well, if he doen't then he is stupider (!) than I look.

Frankly, the boy has come into his own as far as his persona and performance on AI goes. That is a killer entre for cume building his morning show.

He's been anywhere from #1 to #5 in adults 25-54 since he hit the air; Rick Dees was EIGHTH when CC canned him, so that's an improvement.

I listen online quite a bit. I expected it to be a bad show, but the guy is good. He is funny and he is great ring leader.

I know a lot of people like to be Anti-Seacrest, because of AI, but hey, he used an opportunity to his advantage...we'd all do the same if we could ;)

Dees still has more talent than Seacrest will ever have. Unfortunately, the two can never be compared on an even playing field...the audience has changed, and the era is over for Rick's brand of morning show.

When ''American Idol'' has run it's course--and it will, like all tv shows--Seacrest will still be associated with it. When the show is no longer ''cool'', he'll have the ''uncool'' legacy to fight for the duration of his career. He IS good on the radio. I heard him do an interview with ... cough ... Alan Thicke, and it was one of the most compelling, funny, and sarcastic interviews I've ever heard anyone do. Hope Seacrest is being smart with his cash, though, as I question whether he'll have the longevity that Dees had.

R-Sea is clearly riding the wave of popularity - don't forget he's also getting cash from E! (co-hosting News Daily as well as creating a new reality show for them) as well as ABC (taking over for Dick Clark every New Year). If he doesn't battle Oprah on the Forbes list, the only person in this situation that's crazy is his accountant!

When he left Star 98.7 to come to Star 101.3 in SF for afternoons, he really made that station enjoyable to tune into. Brought the numbers up and started to get noticed. I knew he wouldn't be here long, he was too talented for Bay Area radio. Then before you knew it, he was back to LA and the rest is history in the making.

He really started to make some cash a little before his move to KIIS. That's when he signed a multi-year deal worth 7 figures. Then cam AI and after season one he signed a 7 figure deal with them. He's got his T-Shirt business too. AT40 is most likely a decent paycheck as well and the real winner is the E contract. It's been said to have been worth 22 million. But is he saving his dollars? Well after the E signing he went right out and spent a purported 11 million for Kevin Costner's old digs. Plus, he seems to like really, really expensive cars. The kind that cost in excess of 200 thousand a piece. Plus he has a personal assistant and employees of his own to pay now, so.... But really, it's nice to have all that dough rolling in, but as we've seen with NBA players, it can all go really fast if you're not careful. Me, I'd get a nice house, some decent cars (nothing over a hundred grand) for my family and invest. But hey, he's single and I doubt that'll change and he loves the good stuff, so who knows what will happen when it all cools off.

If it were not for Merv, he would not be anywhere today. And Ryan has thanked Merv plenty for that :)

Totally disagree. The era is NOT over for the type of show Rick HAD. The type of show he is currently doing is what is killing Rick Dees not a change in the audience.

Look at how John London was marketed and how his show for a white guy who wasn't thrilled with the audience he had to serve at "The Beat" could be a huge winner, you know they just don't know how to do it at Emmis.

I couldnot resist but I had to say this.
With all of the recent success that Seacrest is having lately, will he be coming out the closet. Not that there is anything wrong with that! :D

It was just an observation not a slam...I loved Dees when he was here (Memphis) and in the KHJ and KIIS days. It just seems like most morning audiences want an "Entertainment Tonight" type show. Dees was humor and bit driven when he was at his best, IMHO. That doesn't seem to work much anymore.

Rick is not himself on Movin. If one listens back to his days at KIIS, it was all about Rick. Rick would do the bits and bring in others once in a while as support. At Movin, it's almost like a show of equals. And when you've got a bunch of no talents on with you that haven't a clue how to follow your lead, no matter what Rick does to cover them, it shows and shows badly.

How does Seacrest even have time to sleep?

KIIS mornings, AT40, E News TV, Idol, TV commercials - no wonder you never see him in the tablods with a chick- he doesn't have any free time

He is where he is today due to one person ----> Merv Griffin -Ryan's "American Idol"...enough said...

Ryan is the kind of guy I want to hate, but, I actually like. It seems like it isn't cool to like him, but he does seem to have a decent show. I don't mind the AI talk, every other DJ in the country talks about it, how funny would it be if Ryan DIDN'T talk about it?

Hey Most...Ryan is where he is due to one person, and thats Ryan. Sure Merv gave him a shot at TV, and Ryan's insane work ethic is what made him the annoying TV personality we all love to hate. Alot of people in this city get the shot at TV, and most dont make it, and end up bitter at the people that do make it. Hmm?? Just a thought.
