So with the launch of Seacrest new syndicated midday/pm drive show, how many chr's will pick it up and will it be a factor for higher ratings? Will the tie in with Idol help CHR's in the ratings? Very curious

I'm guessing a lot of Clear Channel CHRs will jump on this. I think it's a mistake. Remember Carson Daly's show? What about all the Rhythmic AC stations jumping on Whoopi's show?
Radio should be kept live and local. Seacrest's morning show on KIIS-FM sounds great b/c there's a whole team of ppl working there with him, and he puts a lot into that show. I doubt he'll have the time and energy to really dedicate himself to this one as well. After all, he's got american idol on his hands, several versions of the weekly American Top 40 show to record, and more.

From what I have read they are taking his morning show which is five hours, cutting it down to 3 and then adding addtl pieces/custom liners etc for each market. I am assuming you will hear the whole "morning show" in pm drive. Interesting concept.

While I dont dislike Seacrest, im actually with Chrles on keeping radio live and local, I never been a fan of syndicated CHR shows' im not even a big fan of the count downs because if your a radio geek you already pretty much know the chart positions of most songs anyway, but im not against weekend countdowns at stations, just not a personal fave. I think shows like Open House Party, and Romeo's playhouse are really good quality syndicated shows for small to medium markets, but aside from that let CHR radio be live and local.

Anyone ever notice that the stations that scream the loudest about being live a local, usually are barely that? Sure, they've got local "talent" (never has a term been used more loosely), but many suck, and even fewer talk about ANYTHING that's legitimately local. Take a second to actually listen to one of these glorious "live and local" stations, and realize that most of what they do could be cut and pasted in any market and be just as bad.

Sorry folks, but I'd take great quality content from national talent without question. And I'd beat your precious "live and local".

*disclaimer...if you have live and local talent (like a morning show) that truly delivers great content, it will likely win over national talent of the same ilk. But you need to wake up and realize how few of those personalities actually exist right now.

This show is going through "beta" testing right now on a dozen or so stations (might be more by now) and WILL be a CC mandate to run in the midday or afternoons slot. I heard this will be a mandate in the smaller medium to small markets with CC.

I got confirmation that over 50 stations are already signed to carry the show. Premiere is giving first right of refusal to the stations currently running Seacrest's AT40 show.

The new seacrest show is available 2 ways... as a bare bones or fully produced and DOES allow for up to 11 songs an hour...all scheduled locally.

Either way we look at it, there will be alot of people jobless very soon.

This sucks, I hope z100 and 933 flz dont pick up this show.

What do you mean by Premiere radio granting first right of refusal?

Meaning the stations that run the AT40 show will have first dibs on carrying the show in each market, if they want it. If not, they have first right of refusal then they can go to the other stations in the market to see if they are interested in the show :)

While I agree that a lot of 'local talent' are not that great, I also know that radio as it is today is doing nothing AT ALL to find, and nuture great talent. I would also go a step further and say they really don't care if the talent they hire is any good, period. When you look at Seacrests deal, it was all him calling the shots. Not radio hiring a great talent. What I wanna know is why radio is not trying to find the next 'Seacrest'. Whoever that may be. I bet he's there and working hard, but radio doesn't want to hire that good a talent anymore. Radio is in bad shape.

Seacrest, thanks in no small part to Dick Clark, has become one very smart businessman.
Don't be the hired hand, OWN the shows, sell them to national sponsors and offer them back to radio and tv.

So much for sticking to the April launch date. I wonder if westwood one bumped their new Billy Bush show up because of the late start of seacrest

looks like the show is up and running since they have a demo up on premiere website and have a site for affiliates. anyone know who is airing the show?
