I can't quite figure out the rationale behind adding Seacrest to 92.5. The only explanation I can think of is that someone outside of programming (GM, OM, GSM, etc.) determined that this would be a good move for the station because it might bring in more revenue.
(Pardon me for a moment while I pull out my crystal ball...)
I can just hear them in the sales meeting now... "Hey guys, now you can pitch sponsorship of Seacrest to your clients!" Everyone starts salivating and gets excited now that they've been thrown a bone and a bit of hope. However, everyone starts to discover that no one is able to sell Seacrest any better than what they had before. Pretty soon, Seacrest merely becomes 'added value' and the station is littered with the ton of extra commercials that come with syndication... lowering inventory and/or lengthening stopsets, either of which will add grease to the downward spiral of 92.5.
Not that 92.5 is getting numbers now, but from a programming standpoint, to add Seacrest and a personality driven show to a more automated format... in afternoon drive, no less... is schizophrenic. They'd better pull those "we don't talk" liners out of the system ASAP.
This would have been a much better move for the Zone. I wonder if they even tried. It could have redeemed them a bit.
