Sean Demery has left the building

From 99xwatch.com
Citing a desire to work on his marriage, Sean announced this morning that he's leaving the show and going to Utah.

Here's an excerpt:

Sean: On the professional side that's doing fine, but on the personal side, some things have gotten in the way. I've gotta work on my marriage as well, and my wife can't come out here as soon as she'd like to...and that's...you know how that is Leslie, right?

Leslie: Well the separation. I'm surprised you did it as long as you have.

Sean: it wasn't supposed to be this long, as a matter of fact, it was supposed to be five months ago that she was supposed to be out here.

I spoke with Sean last night and I wish the situation could have been different.

I am sick of these Sean Demery excuses. Everytime he leaves a job he cites a family situation. Last I recall his wife had silly degree like Indigineous Arts. If you are making the money and she wants to be with him then she would havemoved to Atlanta.

Call it what it was a failed experiment. When he left SanFrancisco he blamed his mother health in upstate Ny and then quickly moves to Atlanta.

I think he originally left 99x for some of the same burned out excuse.  To focus on the great world of Internet Radio.

Hey if he has screw it money good for him but enough of these contrived excuses.

Now onto the good stuff. Get rid of Leslie and Producer Mark and bring in Von Haessler and Baron and put them together with Tim Andrews and Jenners.

They must be feeling the heat from the Zakkster.

That's the best idea I've heard in a long time.

So Baron can eat humble pie for Cumulus? Are we forgetting they insulted him with their offer? Or does he just take it so he can work again? And what about Eric's salary? Not gonna happen. They will fly with what they have first. I doubt they will even bring in another person.

Did I read that correctly - dude is going to improve his marriage by moving to Utah? I wonder how many other women are going to marry him/them.

Jenn has a great job in Utah. Sean wants to take some time off and be with his wife. It was a tough choice.

Tough choice to leave a failed morning show and a dying station!? I thought the new morning x couldn't sound worse....wrong again.

Wow... you must not have brain cells. Anyone who can work a job that they love to do and work with people they love to work with is lucky... extremely lucky. It would be hard for anyone to leave that situation. Sorry you are too blind to see the personal aspects.

Demery couldn't work this time around. The Morning X needs a need direction that doesn't include Fram.

Didn;t realize you were Sean's PR agent. This move goes along with all of Sean's other reasons. Always leaves for personal reasons. Is Sean leaving if this is a Top 5 rated show. I know you will say yes but I am sure the rest are not buying that. They see the writing on the wall and that is probably why she did not move here knowing their time in Atlanta would be short.

Well sorry if you can't accept the truth. Cumulus supports the Morning X and Sean left on his own terms.

Talk about addition by subtraction! Demery has always sucked, and that morning show couldn't be worse.

I may have to cry.

I was thrilled to hear him on the air again last year, as I didn't expect to hear him again after he left the first time. I still miss the Swingin' Velveeta Lounge, bullhorn, etc. He's one of the few that makes radio listenable to me, thus, its a sad day.

Very fond memories of Sean's airwork the first time around and hope he enjoys the new down time with his wife, we should all be so lucky to be able to step back and make decisions like this, the truly important decisions. After all, this is just radio, it's not life...family is life.

That being said, it wasn't working and you could/can hear it. My gut tells me this is the first step with more moves to come. Much like the Q101 show in Chicago, they tried, and give them credit for that - however recycled some of the members of the show are, but alas, it's not working.

In retrospect, wasn't Sean's leaving the first sign of the chain of events we've seen five weeks later? (mass firings, end of 99x on a terrestrial signal, Q100 to 99.7).

If you had asked several weeks ago, how does Sean Demery's leaving affect Q100, you're correct!

They should call him back and ask him if he'd program 100.5. Morning success on 99x, or not, he's one of the good ones.
