Sean Hannity to KSKY

Mark Davis tweeted that Sean will move to KSKY on 1/1 when he leaves WBAP.

This blows my "Clear Channel finally kills The Eagle" theroy.

Greetings Friends....I thought I bring up a few things for the sake of "Truth Spoken Here".

First....Sean Hannity moving to 660 AM The Answer is another major coup on the part of John Peroyea; easily the best Radio Operator in DFW, and certainly one of the best in the nation.

Second....The Wells Report would likely join the other great shows no one ever hear of if not for John's Faith in this broadcast. It would have been easy for him to follow the conventional "wisdom" and let this end almost four years ago.

Third....If I were the program director of 660 AM The Answer, I would have made the exact same decision. In a Radio world diminished by short-term thinking, given the choice of investing the hundreds of thousands per year in non-stop marketing to bring cume to a new station, or getting another world-beating Talk Host with a huge fan base to join your enterprise...the decision is obvious.

Fourth....Do I relish the prospect of spending my evenings broadcasting here instead of laughing with my wife and son? Not really. But when Susan reminded me that this show stopped being a profession, and became a mission on 9-Eleven 2001, my future course was set. We stick with the game plan; Truth, Solutions, Plain-Speaking Reality on the air at ever possible opportunity.

Finally....The most important professional part of sticking with this comes from the best Executive Producer in the history of Talk Radio....Ms. Vicki Stiefer, and her husband Matt Swinney. They made the decision to stick with this game plan as well. We will, therefore work together in the pursuit of this Broadcast until it is gone....Hopefully, many many years, and at least 4 secure futures from now.

Judging by the ratings, whatever question KSKY is "the answer" to isn't being asked by very many listeners.

News talk radio as a whole is flagging, in my opinion. I think the general population has had its fill of politics. It's the same topics over and over and over, and only the hardcore junkies are tuning in.

I wasn't aware the facts were insulting. Take it up with the audience or Arbitron.

My goodness Steve! What a witty use of a name to create a petard to hoist someone on! Well done! How....morbidly pragmatic your aridly casual, "I wasn't aware the facts were insulting..." is. Then, to deflect the entire insult to Arbirton....Again, my compliments. (Well, the 2-dimensional, black and white ones you can actually understand....)

I'm merely stating the fact the station's ratings are poor. Don't know what the rest of your ramble is about.

In fairness, KSKY is the only talker that's trending up, albeit slightly. At least they're tied with KLIF this month.

Talk radio is oversaturated in DFW. It's little else but hard-right hosts spewing the same conservative talking points. I'd be a P1 of someone like Smerconish if he was back on the air in DFW, or John Batchelor if I could listen to him at night. NPR is the only alternative.

Steve, that doesn't surprise me in the least....(Cue Also Spracht Zarathustra....)

If you'd like to lay off the attitude and address the factual content re: your station's ratings, that would be appreciated.

Trip....

The Wells Report isn't about hard-right Conservatism....How long has it been since you tried it out?

Steve....Respectfully, your assessment is reasonable given your understanding of the situation. In order to address what's actually happening, I'd first have to fill in those gaps. It's probably a better idea if I take your wise counsel, and lay off my attitude at being annoyed by your comments.

Cheers!

Seems to me some people build up and some people tear down. Some clouds produce rain, some don't. Some dogs bite and some want to lick your face. There's just all kinds out there and we can choose which we want to be. Learning to deal with it all without it getting under your skin seems to be the trick. I'm still learning that part.

Glad to hear you are sticking around Jon.

One comment on ratings: A station's success has never been gauged on ratings. It's gauged like any other business: money. When there's cash to keep the business going, you're winning. As A GM, I could care less about my ratings. If the the money is coming in, I'm making some profit for my owner, the station runs smoothly, my listeners like us and the staff is happy and having fun, then my staff has done their job right and likewise made me a good GM. Best of all, I don't have every hungry station on the dial nipping at my ankles trying to take away what we have.

Which Wells Report are you listening to?

Probably (and this is purely a guess, mind you) the one that is coming out of his mouth!
