Search For Sweet Sound Continues (Rangemaster Sounding Good, Part 4)

Hey there AM part15ers -

Still working on trying to get a high quality AM sound out of our part 15 Hamilton Rangemaster. Lot's of learning in this process, some success and some failures. Goal one, to get some real bass into the mix, I think we've done that, goal two, to eliminate the "ringing" of guitars played at high notes, not so much, as evidenced by Lonnie Mack "Memphis" around minute 38.

It seems various artists reproduce with varying quality, and to be sure some of that can be explained by the erratic quality of digital recordings. There is some easy to reproduce stuff here, Fontella Bass "Rescue Me" for example and some tough stuff to reproduce, Billy Idol, Clarence Clemons, Tommy Castro, Bob Dylan and Buckwheat Zydeco.

I apologize for the damn hum somewhere in this mix of gear - it's evident in quiet passages. Still working on that.

The audio chain on this recording, which was taken directly off the air by a Mac laptop is as follows: Source - Mac G5 DP computer> Rane mixing board> Ashly MQX2150 EQ> Aphex 104 Aural Exciter w/Big Bottom> Aphex Compeller 320A> Inovonics222> Hamilton Rangemaster> over the air> Tivioli Model One table radio.

Anyway, if you are so inclined give it a listen and comments welcome.
